Revolving Support for Printing Boot-Tops, &c.

- ALONZO P. NASH, OF WEYMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS.
I IMPROVEMENT IN REVOLVING SUPPORTS FOR PRINTING BOOT-TOPS,&c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,702, dated June 11, 1872.
I, ALoNzo'P. NASH, of Weymouth, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements on Carrying-Tables for the purpose of Gilding the Tops of Boots or Shoes, or similar articles, as will now be shown and described.
I Nature and Objects of the Invention.
The nature of my invention relates to an improved labor-saving apparatus to be used in varnishing, gilding, carrying, and stampin g the tops of boots and shoes or other articles; and consists in a revolving tableprovided with a number of projecting arms over which the articles may be slipped, and by turning the table the operators may remain stationary in their places and perform their work in succession without the need of transporting the articles separately from the one operator to the other, as will now be shown.
On the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved apparatus, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same. I
Similar letters refer to similar parts wherever they oecur in the difi'crent parts on the drawing.
a, on the drawing, is a standard attached to and supported by feet b b b b, as shown. The standard a is provided at its upper end with an annular collar, 0, that serves as a supporting-surface for the hub d, to which the radially-projecting arms 0 e e are attached. Another hub, d, is attached to the upper side of the arms e e e, in case the whole is made of wood 3 but if I make it of metal, I should naturally make the arms 6 e c with the hubs d 01 cast in one piece so as to obtain a sufficient bearing surface for the table e as it turns horizontally around the stationary standard a. To the top of the standard a is attached a stationary table, f, that serves as a supporting shelf for the difl'erent tools and materials that are used in the process of gilding and varnishing. The arms 6 e 0 project horizontally and radially from the hubs d d, as shown in Fig. 1, so that such articles as boots and shoes or articles of a similar nature may be slipped over them during the operation of gilding and varnishing the tops thereof preparatory to stamping them with the makers or dealers name, trademark, &c., after they are manufactured. It is not absolutely necessary that the table 6 should swing around a central standard, a, as I might make the table revolve on a circular rail, and leave room enough in the center for one of the operators to perform his or her work from within instead of from the outside; but the arms e 6 would in all cases project outward.
Having thus fully described the nature, construction, and operation of my invention, I wish to secure by Letters Patent, and claim The herein-described labor-savin g revolving table provided with a number of radiallyprojecting arms, 6 0, over which the boots and shoes and similar articles may be slipped for the purpose of sizing, gilding, carrying, and stamping, in a manner as herein shown and described.
