ADJUSTABLE ELECTROLIER.
Patented Aug. 13, 1918.
Application filed August 1, 1917, Serial No. 183,949. Renewed May 28, 1918. Serial No. 237,176.
T0 all 'whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, FREDERICK C. ANKELE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia,`in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Electroliers; and I do hereby declaro the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to thel accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in adjustable electroliers, and consists of a simple and eficient device rof this nature, having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification and in which:
Figure 1 is a view in elevation of my invention. i
Fig.' 2 is a central sectional longitudinal` view through the same.
Fig. 3 is a central 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a sectional View on line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 5--5 of Fig. 2.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by numeral:
1 designates a tubular shell having a link 2 connected at its upper end which is adapted to be hung upon a hook 3 for attachment to a ceiling, and4 is a `shell fitted over the tubular` portion and held thereon by means of a thumb screw 5. A hollow tube 6 telescopes within the tube 1 and held at dierent relative positions therein through the medium of the adjusting screw 7. An adjustable skeleton disk, designated by numeral 8, has a hub portion 9, in which an adjusting screw 1() is mounted and adapted to engage said shall 6` to hold said disk in Copies of this patent may be obtained for sectional View on line` riphery of the disk and are provided with hooks at their outer ends. Chains 1Q made of links areadapted to be supported at their upper ends bv the hooks 13 which project from the'shell14 and said chain is adjustably connected to the outer ends of the hooks 15. `An adjusting screw 16 is mounted in a threaded aperture in the lower end of the shell 14, adapted to hold said `shell 14 at different elevations. A bulb 17 is connected to the lower portion of the tube 6, and 18 designates a shade supported about the. tube 6.
By the provision of an adjustable electrolier, made in accordance with my invention, it will be noted that the device may be conveniently hung. temporarily or permanently from a ceiling and the lamp wired for use. Through the medium of the adjusting means the light and shade may be held at dierent elevations according as it may be desiredfor different purposes.
What I claim to be new is:
1. An adjustable electrolier, comprising two tubes telescoping with each other, `and means for holding the same in different adjusted positions, a shell mounted on one of said tubes, and a skeleton disk upon the other, hooks upon said shell and disk, a`
skeleton disk having a hub portion adjust` ably held upon the inner of said tubes, rods radiating from` said hub portion and eX- tending through the periphery of the disk and terminating in hooks, a link chain adjustably connected to said hooks, a bulb connected to the lower end of said inner tube, and a shade about said bulb, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
