JOHN F. TROXLER, OF G-REENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA.
RECEPTACLE-COVER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 6, 1918.
Application filed April 12, 1918. Serial No. 228,180.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, J oHN F. TROXLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Greensboro, in the county of Guilford and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and useful Receptacle-Cover, of which the following is a specication. v
This invention relates to covers for receptacles such as barrels, buckets, cans and other containers used in stores, one of the objects of the invention being to provide a flat A receptacle cover which can be slid in any direction to give access to the contents of the container, there being means combined with the cover for limiting its sliding movement and preventing it from accidentally tilting out of position.
Another object is to provide a structure of this character which can be transparent, thus to display the contents of the container, the parts being simple in construction and cheap to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim, it being understood that various changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts Without departing from the spirit of the invention as set forth in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown.
In said drawings- Figure l is a plan view of the cover in position on a receptacle, the cover being shown, by dotted lilies, partly removed.
Fig. 2 is a section through the parts shown in Fig. l. p
Referring to the figures by characters of reference, l designates `a receptacle which copio o! this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of IIa-tenta,l
into and is secured within the center of a semi-spherical stop 5 arranged under and in contact with the plate 2. The upper end of the bolt is secured within a knob 6 arranged upon the center of the plate. A weight 7 may be arranged within the lower portion of the stop 5 and, if desired, a space 8 can be left above the weight to hold a small amount of material for display purposes.
It will be apparent that when the cover is slid in any direction the stop 5 will come against the wall of the container and limit such movement, at the same time preventing the cover from accidentally tilting. By having the material holding space 8 in the stop the contents of the container can be easily ifdentified when the container is only partly ull.
What is claimed is v A receptacle cover including a transparent plate adapted to slide radially upon a receptacle, a hollow semi-spherical stop upon the bottom of the plate at the center thereof, a weight thereon, there being an article receiving space above the weight and'within the stop, a knob upon the center-of the top of the plate, and means extending through the knob, stop and plate for holding them assembled. v
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aiiixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
