IMPROVEMENT IN BED-BOTTOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,278, dated May 28, 1872.
To all'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY T. SMITH, of the city of Washington, District of Columbia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bed-Bottoms; and I do hereby declare the following to be an exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a top view of the bedstead with the improved bottom. nFig. 2 represents one end of the bedstead with the upright thumb-screw plates for adjusting or tightening the wire bottom. Fig. 3 are the wires with the flat end plates, the plate being also shown at Fig. 4.
The nature of my improvement and invention consists in riveting two ends of a wire to a plate, so as to form a double wire with square instead of round ends, the wires resting in straight grooves in the cross-pieces at the head and foot of the bedstead, and being adjusted or tightened by screws atthe head-rail of the bedstead. The object is to easily' or quickly repair the bed-bottom in case one of the wires should be broken.
