APPLICATION FILED JAN. 19. I918- Patented May 21, 1918.
INVENTOR WITNESSES ATTORNEY JORDAN MAX LOVE, OF WATSON, WEST VIRGINIA.
WRAP-HOLDER FOR, THEATER-CHAIRS.
Application filed January 19, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JORDAN M. Lovn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Watson, in the county of Marion and State of West Virginia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Wrap-Holders for Theater-Chairs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to wrap holders especially adapted to be used upon theater chairs and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention. is to provide a holder of the character stated which is of simple structural arrangement and adapted to be applied to a theater chair without altering the structure of the same and when applied adapted to securely retain wraps, hats or other articles of apparel in a manner that the said articles when applied will not interfere with access to adjacent chairs or passageway-from the same.
With this object in view the wrap holder comprises eyes or guides applied to the seat of the chair and eyes or guides applied to the back of the frame of the chair. A flexible element is threaded through these eyes or guides and the article to be supported is interposed between the flexible element and the seat of the chair or the back of the frame of the same. When the seat of the chair is swung in a downward direction the flexible element is drawn taut whereby the artic-le is securely clamped by the flexible element against the chair and held in position.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a side elevation of the theater chair showing the holder applied.
Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the seat.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the wrap holding means.
The chair is of conventional pattern and comprises a frame 1 to which is hingedly attached a seat 2 in the usual manner. Eyes 3 are positioned at the underside of the seat 2 in the vicinity of the free edge thereof and eyes 4 are attached to the said seat in the vicinity of the hinged edge thereof. The eyes 3 are closer together than the eyes 4. Eyes 5 are mounted at the back of the frame Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 211, 1918.
Serial No. 212,705.
1 in the vicinity of the seat 2 and eyes 6 are mounted at the back of the frame in the vicinity of the upper edge thereof. A flexible element 7 is threaded through the said eyes and the said element may be a wire, cord, or the like. The element 7 is tied or secured to one of the eyes 6 then threaded through the other eye 6, then carried down and threaded through one of the eyes 5, then across the back of the chair and through the other eye 5 then through one of the eyes 4 then through both of the eyes 3 then back through the other eye 4 then through the eye 5 at the same side of the chair as the last IPelItIOIlQd eye eland secured thereto.
When the seat of the chair 2 is swung to a closed position with relation to the frame 1 the flexible element 7 becomes loose and an article of apparel may be inserted between may be inserted between the transversely disposed portion of the flexible element 7 which passes through the eyes 6 and 5 on the back of the chair. When the seat of the chair is swung in a downward direction and assumes a horizontal position the flexible element 7 is drawn taut whereby the articles or article are securely held b the flexible element 7 against the back of the chair and the seat thereof.
From the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that a wrap or article holder of simple and durable structural arrangement is provided and that the same may be conveniently used for effectually and securely holding articles of apparel in position upon the frame and seat of a theater too mg a frame and a seat hingedly connected third set of eyes applied to the frame of the thereto, an article holder comprising eyes chair and a flexible element threaded through applied to the seat, some of the eyes being all of the eyes and connected at its ends With located in the vicinity of the hinged edge of the frame of the chair. 10 5 the seat, other of the eyes being located In In testimony whereof I affix my signature. the vicinity of the free edge of the seat, a JORDAN MAX LOVE.
