Specification of Letters Patent.

Application led March 27, 1915. Serial No. 17,497.
y Houston, in the county of Harris and tate of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Buckles, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful r improvements in a belt buckle.
rlhe object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described which will secure the ends of the ordinary belt, designed to be worn around the waist, together, without injuring or mutilating the ends of the belt and without the necessity of perforating either of said ends as is required when the ordinary buckle is used.
` With the above and other objects in view, the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts and use, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1, shows the ordinary belt with the buckle attached to one end thereof, and Fig. 2, shows a transverse sectional view of the buckle taken on the line --a of Fig. l. y
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the figures, the numeral l, refers to the buckle, which is an oblong metallic member, substantially rectangular in cross section, and having the lengthwise partition 2, extending from edge to edge and end to end thereof and forming the slots 3 and 4, for the reception of the respective ends of the belt. One end 5, of the belt, is inserted into the slot 3, and is held against the partition 2,
by means of the set-screw 6, which is threaded through the outer walls of the buckle and whose inner end presses against and holds said belt end against detachment from the buckle. 'lfhe other end 7, of the belt, may then be inserted into the slot 4, and secured in position in the same manner above described, by means of the set-screw 8, whosel head is enlarged, forming the disk or button 9, by means of which said screw can be easily turned in either direction, said button also serving as a badge or like ornament if desired.
What l claim is:
The combination with a belt, of an obf long metallic shell rectangular in cross section, the sides of said shell being provided with oppositely disposed thickened portions, forming bosse's, a partition extending from end to end thereof, forming slots on opposite sides of the partition, for the reception of the belt ends, one end of said belt being inserted into one of the slots, a set screw threaded through the thickened portion of the wall of the shell and engaging with said end and permanently securing it in the shell, the other end of the belt passing loosely through the other slot, a set screw having an enlarged head, forming a disk threaded through the thickened portion of the other wall of said shell and whose inner end engages against the belt end to secure it against detachment from the slot.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CYRUS M. HALL.
