The sections 13 are then moved outwardly of the sections 16 while the sections 16 are moved outwardly of the sections 15 thereby extending the canvas or flexible bed bottom 28 which is attached between the inner end of the cushion 14 and a cross bar 29 carried by the sections 15r adjacent the hinge bar 23 thereof. A curved supporting bar 30 may be arranged between the sections 16 if desired outwardly of the canvas 28 for assisting in supporting the canvas as well as for bracing the sections 16. The side rails 10 being positioned horizontally, the base 12 becomes the foot of the bed while the strut 26 is moved upon its hinge 31 for employing the shorter section 32 thereof as a support for the head portion of the bed, this portion being provided with the cushion 14.
A serviceable device that is foldable into compact form when not desired for use is arranged which may be readily set up as a chair for employing the seat 21, at which times the cushion 14 constitutes the back of l the seat; the structure may be readily converted into a bed the canvas 28 constituting the mattress, and the cushion 14 serving as a head rest or pillow. The device may be used in a slightly diiferent manner if desired by using vthe device as a seat with the sections 13 and 16 projected and dispensingwith the use of the strut 26.
What I claim as new is 1. A combined chair and bed comprising telescoping side rails having a supporting base at one end and `a cushion at its opposite end, an adjustable support for the device at the cushion end thereof, and a combined foot for the bed and seat member hingedly arranged intermediate the said cushion and base.
2. A combined chair andbed' comprising telescoping side rails having a supporting base at one end and a cushion at the opposite end, an adjustable support for the device at the cushion end thereof, a combined foot for the bed and seat member hingedly arranged intermediate the said cushion and base, the telescoping sections of the side rails-being of different diameters, locking latches between the said sections adapted for retaining the same in their adjusted positions, and a flexible bed bottom connected between the inner end of the cushion and the rail sections upon which the said seat is hinged.

A chair-bed comprising a combined foot-board for the bed yand a supporting-base for the chair, telescoping rail sectionsy carried thereby, a cushion at the opposite ends of said rail` sectionsl from the said base adapted as a pillow for the bed and a back rest for the chair, a hinged supporting memv ber for either the bed or chair hinged adjacent the said cushion, a chair seat, and a bed bottom.y hinged at their inner sides to adjacent points upon the same sections of rails and operatively supported by the rails.,`
