JABEZ W. LOANE, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND CHARLES E. LOANE, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN AWNING-FRAMES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 126,556, dated May 7, 1872.
Specification describing an Improvement in the Construction of Awning-Frames, invented by JABEZ W. LOAN'E, of Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland.
The invention will first be fully described and then clearly pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 represents a plan view of the frame, and. Fig. 2 is a top view of the frame with one of the screw-threaded eyes in section.
A A represent the side pieces, having thread a at one end and eye a at the other. Bis the front piece, provided with end nuts I) b, into which the thread a of side-pieces is screwed. The frame A A B, being pivoted by means of the eyes a a, can be raised, thrown back, or lowered by suitable cords, rods, 01' ropes.
The advantage of this construction for awnin gs is that they can be readily taken to pieces and conveniently transported or packed away during the season when not wanted.
I am aware that it is not new to make an awning-frame in sections, and I therefore do not wish to be understood as claiming such as my invention; but
What I do claim as new and of my invention, is-- The frame for awnings, consisting of side pieces A A, each screw-threaded at a and having eye a, and the front piece B having a screw-threaded eye, b, at each end, all constructed and arranged to operate in the manner and for the purpose specified.
