Description

ELBLOOM. Mosquit'mNet Frame.
No. 204,187. Patented May 28,1878.
ATTORNEYS ILPETERS. FNOTD-UTNOGRAFNER, WASHINGTON. DIG.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELIAS BLOOM, OF JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI.
IMPROVEMENT IN MOSQUITO-NET FRAMES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 204,187, dated May 28, 1878 application filed September 27,1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIAS BLOOM, of J ackson, in the county of Hinds, and in the State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mosquito-Net Frames; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the devices hereinafter described for making an adjustable frame for mosquito-nets, as will be set forth.
To enable those skilled in the arts to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective of my invention, A represents a post, which is placed at the center of the head of the bed, and extending up a suitable distance above it. Upon the inner face-of this post are secured two guide-cleats, c e, and an ear or flange, a.
B B and O 0 represent the bars of an ordinary lazy-tongs. One of the bars B is pivoted to the ear a, while one of the bars 0 has its end resting between the cleats e 6, so that it can slide up and down against said post. To the'last bar O of the lazy-tongs is secured a rod, E, near its lower end, said rod being crosswise of the bar. A rod, F, is also passed crosswise through the post A. The length of these rods will be of about the width of the mosquito-net, so that when it is connected the four corners will be connected to the ends of the rods.
J represents an eye in the lower end of the outer bar 0, to which is attached firmly the cords i i. These cords then pass to the post A, and through suitable eyes upon both sides of it. The object of these cords is to extend or to close up the lazy-tongs, as circumstances may require.
It will be seen that when the netis attached to the rods E and F it will be below the lazytongs, and entirely out of its way when either open or closed.
This arrangement enables me to make a cheap and easily-operated device for moving a mosquito-net either over a bed or otherwise.
I disclaim a mosquito-net frame operated by a lazy-tongs, as such is, broadly, not my invention.
Heretofore the mosquitornetting has been placed above the lazy-tongs, and in operating the lazy-tongs back and forth the netting is continually torn. This I obviate by suspending the netting below the lazy-tongs, which is the essential feature of my invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The arrangement of the post A and the lazytongs B 0, together with the rods E and F and the cords i 6, whereby the mosquito-bar may be hung and operated below its fastenings, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 5th day of September, 1877.
