MATERNITY-GARMENT.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that l, Ti-mononn lVonM-LEY Roanne, a citizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Franlc lin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Maternity Garments, of which the following is a specilication.
My invention relates to maternity garments.
The objects of my invention are to provide an improved garment, which is in the nature of an under garment, adapted to be worn. during the maternity period, which garment is particularly constructed to properly and comfortably support the abdomen of the wearer and to permit of the supportingmember being readily adjusted.
A. further object of my invention is to provide a garment of this class with leg portions or members, the inner portions of y which are separately formed and detachably tell and adjustably connected with the outer leg portions and to otherwise produce a garment of the class specified of simple, convenient and desirable construction.
The preferred embodiment of my inven tion is shown in the accompanying sheet of drawings, in which similar characters of reference designate corresponding parts, and in which:
Figure l is perspective view of my improved garment so taken as to show the front portion thereof and,
Fig. 2 is a similar view particularly showing the rear portion thereof.
ln constructing my improved garment, l
provide a body embracing portion l, the side members of which are continued downward past the base of the abdomen to provide comparatively short leg sections or eXtensions 9i, such legsections being in the nature of partial or half legs. The body of the garment above these leg sections, which eX- tends approximately from the waist line to the beginning of the leg members is formed in its front side with an inserted section 3, this section preferably tapering somewhat toward the lower end of the body section and having its longer edges detachably and adjustably united with the adjacent edges of the body section, preferably by means of lacing strings which pass through eyelets in the reinforced edges of the parts.
Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 172,595.
The partial leg sections 2 are completed and converted into tubular leg form by detachably and adjustably connecting therewith inner leg sections 5, such attachment being preferably accomplished by lacing strings 6 which pass through eyelets in the adjoining edge portions of the members.
The material which forms my improved garment is preferably thatwhich is known as elastic fabric.
lt will be observed that the slightly tapering form of the inserted body member 3 will contribute toward a proper fitting of said member 3 about the abdomen of the wearer and that this member will act as a support for the abdomen. Through the medium of the connecting lacing members, it is obvious that a desirable adjustment of the supporting member or section 3 may be readily attained for the purpose of facilitating a closer or less close fit in connection with the abdomen and imparting a greater or less degree of support.
llt is well known that the inner portions of the legs of a Garment of this kind, are apt to become soiled or worn while the other portions of the garment are comparatively clean and in comparatively good condition. @wing to the fact that the inner members 5 of the legs of my garment are detachable as described and shown, it is obvious that such sections may be removed and new or cleansed sections readily inserted in place thereof.
What I claim, is:
l. ln a maternity garment, the combina tion with a body portion adapted to embrace the abdomen and having partial leg sections extending therefrom, of inner leg members detachably and removably connected with the outer leg members.
2. In a maternity garment, the combination of a body portion adapted to embrace the back, front and sides of the wearer and comprising an inserted detachable frontsection, ofpermanent partial leg sections, and removable leg sections connected with said permanent sections.
ln testimony whereof l aili'x my signature in presence of two witnesses.
