HENRY G. SAAL, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DISPLAY-STAND.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Apr. 1918- Appfioation filed June 21, 1917. Serial No. 176,006.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY G. SAAL, citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Display-Stands, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description.
My invention relates to display stands and has a number of objects and advantages in view. The stand of'my invention includes a pedestal an upright carried thereby and projecting upwardly therefrom, object supporting fingers carried by an upper portion of the upright and a platform or platforms for supporting other objects and so related to the fingers that the Various objects carried by the display stand will not interfere with each other.
These characteristics of my invention are realized by the preferred embodiment of the invention shown by the accompanying draw ings in which Figure 1 is a view in front elevation, the suspended objects at the front of the stand being removed for the sake of clearness; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the top part of the stand; Fig. 3 is a view on line 7 33 of Fig. 1 excepting that the object at the front of the stand is present in this view; Fig. 4 is a view on line 44: of Fig. 1 with the object at the front of the stand added; Fig. 5 is a view from beneath of the structure as itappears in Fig. 6; Fig. 6 is a sectional view on line 66 of Fig. 5; Fig. 7 is a View in elevation of the top part of the structure with suspended objects thereon;
j Fig. 8 is a view on line 88 of Fig. 6; Fig.
9 is aperspective view of the lower platform; Fig. 10 is a view on line 10-l0 of Fig. 3; Fig. 11 is a view on line 1111 of Fig. 9; and Fig. 12 is a view illustrating the component parts of the structure.
Like parts are indicated by similar char acters of reference throughout the difie'rent figures.
The display stand includes a pedestal 1 and an upright 2 carried by and projecting upwardly from the pedestal- An object supporting plate 3 is carried at the upper end of the upright, this plate being formed with transversely curved upward bulges that are disposed along lines extending across the plate to form plate strengthening ribs these bulges in the plate being integrally continued beyond the plate and there being upwardly directed from the plate to form fingers 5 thatIare in the form of hooks and uponwhich fingers objects 5 that are to be displayed may be hung. A platform 6 is carried by the upright at a lower portion thereof and has depressions 7 therein forming underlying seats for the objects 7 that are to rest upon this platform, said platform having notches 8 in its edge portion that are located between adjacent seats 7 in the platform 6, these notches 8 being provided for receiving objects 5 hung upon said fingers to position them betweenthe objects 7 upon the platform 6 An additional platform 9 is provided above the platform 6 and of a size smaller than the platsaid fingers. A positioner 10 is located above form 6 to clear the objects 5 hung upon the additional platform 9 and is smaller than the platform 6 also to clear the objects 5 -hung upon the fingers 4:. The positioner 10 is desirably in the formof a plate provided with openings 10 overlying the additional platform and located beside the ver-. 'tical planes containing the upright 2 and fingers '5 whereby the objects 9 supported upon the additional platform'9 are clear of the objects 5 hung upon the fingers. The notches 8 in the platform 6 are desirably farther away from the upright than the object engaging portions of the. fingers whereby the objects 5 hung from the fingers are inclined upwardly toward the upright. The "objects 5 happen tobe mop handles carrying mops at their lower ends and provided with screw eyes 5 at their upper ends that are passed over the fingers or hooks 5. i
The objects 7 9 happen to be in the form of tubes orcans that contain oil or other liquid with which the absorbent strands of the mops are to be treated. Each of the object supporting plates 3, 6 and 9 is assembled with the upright 2 by means of a collar 11 having a finger formation 12' integrally formed with the collar and projecting transversely therefrom, said finger formation being fastened to the adjacent object supporting plates such plates.
to assemble the collar and While I have herein shown and particularly described'the preferred embodiment of my invention I do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction shown as chan es may readily be made without departing from the spirit of my invention, but having thus described my invention 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent the following r l. A display stand including'a pedestal; an upright carried by and projecting upwardly from the pedestal; a plurality of fingers carried at the upper portion of the upright and upon which objects to be displayed may-be hung; a platform carried by the upright at a lower portion thereof and having depressions therein forming seats for theobjects that are to rest upon this platform, said platform having notches in its edge portion that are located between adj acent seats in said platform and provided for receiving objects hung upon said fingers to position them between the objects u on'said platform, the notched portions of t e platform being farther away from the upright than the object engaging portions of the fingers whereby the objects hung from the fingers are inclined upwardly toward the upright; an additional platform above the first platform and of smaller size to clear the objects hung upon said fingers; and a positioner located above the additional platform-and smaller than the first platform also to clear objects hung upon said fingers and provided with openings located beside the vertical planes containing said upright and fingers whereby the objects supported upon the additional platform are clear of the objects hung upon the fingers.
