Description

PATENTBD DEC. 11, 1906.
M. ZEINER.
DISPLAY RACK.
APPLICATION FILED APR. 2, 1906;
JFttornqys Specification of Letters Patent.
' Patented Dec. 11, 1906 Application filed April 2, l 906.- Serial No. 309,377.
To all whom it, may concern:
Be it known that I, MATHIAS ZEINER, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at 2317' Fifth avenue, McKeesport, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-R acks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein'to the accompanying drawmgs.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in display-racks; and the invention has for its primary object to provide a novel form of revoluble rack or holder for cards, advertisements, pictures, and like articles.
Another object of this invention is to rovide a revoluble rack having a pluralityo detachable card-holders which can be easily and quickly detached at any desired time and readily placed in engagement with the rack when it is desired to display the cards contained by said rack.
My improved rack is particularly adapted" to be used in hotels, stationery-stores, andsuch places where a plurality of cards are to be displayed or conveniently reached.
Briefly described, my improved rack comprises a base having a standard upon which is revolubly mounted a sleeve carrying two hexagon shaped spider frames, between which are supported card-holders adapted to contain a plurality of cards.
The detail construction of my invention will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and, referring to the drawings accompanying this application, like numerals of referenc designate correspondin parts throughoutthe several views, in whic Figure 1 is a'side elevation of my improved card-rack. Fig. 2 is anenlarged plan of the same. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional view of a portion pf the rack, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the card-holders.
To put'my invention into ractice, I construct my improved card-rac of a suitable base 1, having a central upright or standard 2, the top of said standard being provided with a ball or pin-point bearing 3. Upon the standard is detachably mounted a sleeve 4, the upper end of which is provided with a hexagonsha ed spider-frame 5, while mounted upon t e lower end of the sleeve is a similar frame 6, said frame bein retained thereon by a link 7, carried by the ower end of the sleeve 4.
Each side of the hexagon frame 5 is provided with an upwardly-extending pin 8, and upon said pin is detachably mounted a cardholder 9. The card-holders 9 are adapted to form the outer walls of the rack, and while I have herein described hexa on frames for supporting six, card-holders desire it to be understood that octagon frames or frames having a greater or lesser number of sides may be readily used, the number of sides to said frames depending upon the size of the display-rack. 1 I
Each card-holder consists of tworods 1O 10, the ends of which are connected together by plates 11 and 12. The plate 11 at the, top of the card-holder is rovided with a strap 14, by'which the hol eris secured to .the pins 8 ofthe frame 5. The
lower plate 12 is provided with a central opening 15, by which'the lower end of each card-rack is secured tothe frame 6 by screws 16. Mounted between the rods. 10 10 are a plurality of shelves or brackets 17, each bracket consisting of a plate 18, which is secured to the rods 10 10, each plate carrying a shelf-like extension 19, to which is secured an upwardly-extending wire frame 20, said frame being adapted to support a card upon the shelf-like extension 19'.
When a lurality of cards are mounted in.
against one another, with the exception of the cards supported in the uppermost brackets or shelves. In this manner a great many cards may be storedor supported upon my improvedrevoluble rack, and when it is desired to inspect the various cards supported 1 by the rack said rack can be revolved to expose either side thereof.
The simplicity of construction used in con-. nection with my improved rack permits of the same being mounted at a comparatively small cost, and it may be manufactured from light and durable metal, whereby it may be supported upon a show-case or similar su port.
uch changes in the construction and operation of my improved rack as are permissible by the appended claims may be resorted to Without'departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letv ters Patent, is
1. A display-rack embodying a base, a standard carried by said base, a sleeve rotat tive upon said standard and with spideri'rames at the up erandlewen ortions thereof, the upper said'spider ames haying upwardly-extending pins, a plurality of racki'rame's each including vertical side'members and transverse end members and with intermediate 'card supporting racks, straps earried by said racks for bearingio verirsaid 'pins, and means for detachably connecting the 2.
