IMPROVEMENT IN SOFABEDSTEADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,088, dated April 23, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERRMAN H. REIcHERT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Sofa-Bedstead; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being .had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which drawing- Figure l is a front View of this invention Fig. 2 is a similar View is a plan or top view-thereof.

This invention consists in providing a sofabedstead with hinged arm-pieces, which are capable of being folded out with the sofa-seat in such a manner that said arm-pieces will form a head and foot-board, which coincide with the head and foot board of the sofa-frame, and thereby form, in combination with the sofa-seat, a double bedstead.
In the drawing, the letter A designates a sofaframe, on whichI place the seat B. This seat is secured to the frame bymeans of hingejoints (1. a, so that the same can be folded out, as seen in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawing, when it is supported on legs 0 O, which are pivoted to the seat B, and which can be swung up when not in use. To said seat is hinged a side board, D, which is provided with hinged end pieces E E, so that the same is capable of being folded up within and with the seat B. On opposite sides of the seat B, I place the armpieces F F, which are secured to the frame A by hinge-joints b b, so that the same can be folded out with the seat, and thereby form a head and foot board for a double bedstead.
