To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that l, VVILLIE MANOAII SEV- rumnon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lauder-dale, in the county of Lauderdale and State of Mississippi, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment- .ltlangers, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to garment hangers, referring more particularly to the collapsible type primarily adapted for supporting pants, skirts, ties or the like articles of wearing apparel, and so constructed to adapt. the garment hanger when not in use to be folded into compact form, thus ccupying but a minimum amount of space in storing the same in a dress suitcase, trunk or t he like place.

The invention furthermore among other features contemplates the production of a hanger formed of Wire and constitutes a plurality of frames hingedly connected to one another, and a supporting loop carried by one of said frames which facilitates in not only suspending the frame on a suitable support, but may be utilized as a clamp for clamping the frames in a folded or compact position.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features, details of construction and combination of parts which will hereinafter be more fully set forth, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawing, in which like characters of reference refer to corresponding parts in the several views, the hanger generally is denoted by the character and shown as constructed solely of wire, and embodying a main supporting frame 6, a lower supporting frame 7, the lower supporting frame being connected with the upper supporting frame through the medium of an intermediate supporting frame 8.

wardly curved arms 11, and said arms being connected together through the medium of a U-shaped connecting bar 12. The horizontal portion of the connecting bar has suspended therefrom the intermediate frame 8, and this frame is of substantially U-shaped form and likewise constructed of a single strand of wire, forming the frame with spaced parallel limbs 13 and a horizontal connecting portion 14:. Each of the limbs 13 of the intermediate frame is terminally bent to rovide bearing eyes 15 in which the connecting bar of the main supporting frame is journaled and consequently hingedly connects the intermediate frame with the main supporting frame. Furthermore, the limbs 13 of the intermediate frame are of a resilient character and tend to frictionally engage with the vertical side portions 16 of the connecting bar for preventing any accidental swinging or loose movement of the intermediate frame with respect to the main upper supporting frame. The lower frame 7 is constructed of a single strand of wire and bent to provide the same of U-form, presenting spaced limbs 17 connected to one another through the employment of the horizontal connecting bar 18. Bearing eyes 19 are provided on the terminals of the limbs 17 and through which the connecting portion 14 of the intermediate frame is journaled, serving to hingedly connect the lower frame on the intermediate frame.

As far as the description of the invention has been proceeded with, l am desirous of stating that the main upper supporting frame is generally intended for supporting coats or the like, whereas trousers are adapted to be supported on the U-shaped connecting bar 12 thereof, while the respective connecting bars of the intermediate and lower frame, are primarily intended to support shirts, ties or the like articles of wearing apparel.

Pivotally connected on the horizontal portion of the Ll-shaped bearing 9 is a supporting loop 20 capable, when the hanger is in an unfolded form, to support the same on a suitable support such as a nail or the like. 21 designates a second bearing of U-shaped form constructed from a single strand of wire having the terminals of its limbs 22 looped around the inner ends of the opposite curved arms 11 and at a point adjacent the point of connection of the bearing 21 with the supporting arms, the limbs are further lift coiled to provide a pair of alined transverse bearings 28. A garment hook 2a is pivotally mounted on the horizontal portion of the second bearing 21 for a vertical swinging movement.
