IVITNESSES: INVENTOR.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. I
ROBERT D. PEARSON, 0F PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA.
BUCKLE. r
Application filed October 25, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Roimn'r D. PEARSON, a citizen of the Unitei'l States, residing at Palo Alto, in the county of Santa Clara and. State of California, have invented a new and useful Buckle, of which the following a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a connecting means which may be applied to self adjustable flat supporters where said flat supporters pass slidably through a buckle.
Other objects are simplicity of construction and eliiciency of operation With the forgoing and other objects in view which will appea as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination of details of construction hereinafter described and claimed.
I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 represents a full view of a buckle with a single flat supporter passing through and around said buckle with a double turn in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 represents a sectional view on line A-B of Fig. 1.
Referring to Fig; 1 there is shown a buckle A provided parallel. to the upper edge 9 with a connecting means 2 to hold a stationary support 3. The curved slots 4: and 5 are provided for a slidablc support 6 to pass through. and around the body of the buckle A and the support 6 is held in the desired angle to the rear or front of the buckle A when inserted in the slots at and 5, by the guide members 7 and 8 which are set in the rear or in front of the body of the buckle A below line 19 in any desired position, and leave the slots 10 and 11 open at right angles to the buckle A for the support 6 to pass through and past the guide members 7 and 8.
The buckle A. may be curved. from the side Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 5, 1918.
Serial No. 57,841.
12 to 13 or from the upper edge 9 to the bottom edges 15 or to conform to a surface against which it may lie, and may be dished in or raised out at 16 to allow the support 6 to ride over to relieve the tension and strain from the edges 17 and assist the support 6 to pass through and around the slots 4: and 5. The slots L and 5 are preferably curved to assist the support 6 to slide through the center of the said slots 4L and 5 regardless oi the position from which the saidv support 6 passes through the said slots 4L and 5 to prevent the edges 17 of the sup port 6 from chafing in the corners of the slots 4 and 5 at 18.
Having thus described the invention, what claimed is:
In a buckle with a three point suspension means, comprising a concave-convex plate with curved slot passing therethrough at an ngle to one, another at one end, and fastening means for a single support at the 0pposite end thereof to form one end of said three point suspension means, a slidable strap adapted to pass through said curved slots and around said concavo-convex late to connect with the remaining two en s of said three point suspension means, a hump centrally located under said strap and between said curved slots to guide and relieve said strap while sliding through said curved slots and over said concave-convex plate, and guide members positioned in the path of said two ends of said slidahle strap for same to pass through as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 19th day of October 1915.
