  • the object of this invention is to produce a pail for use in prisons, hospitals, and families, that will not oxidize or retain and emit the unpleasant odors of the fluids carried therein; the nature of which consists in constructing a vessel, the body or exterior of which may be composed of wood, tin, or other suitable material, having an interior lining of composition metal capable of receiving and retaining a very smooth and close surface or polish and of great hardness, of which composition feldspar forms the principal ingredient or base, and a packing of non-conducting material, as I will further explain by reference to the accompanying drawing, of which Figure l is an elevation of a pail constructed according to my device; Fig. 2, a vertical section; and Fig. 3, a top ylew of same.

IMPROVEMENT IN PAILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,715, dated April 16, 1872.
Specification describing certain Improvements in Pails for Carrying Liquids, invented by CHARLES W. BARTLETT, of the city, county,
, and State of New York.
The object of this invention is to produce a pail for use in prisons, hospitals, and families, that will not oxidize or retain and emit the unpleasant odors of the fluids carried therein; the nature of which consists in constructing a vessel, the body or exterior of which may be composed of wood, tin, or other suitable material, having an interior lining of composition metal capable of receiving and retaining a very smooth and close surface or polish and of great hardness, of which composition feldspar forms the principal ingredient or base, and a packing of non-conducting material, as I will further explain by reference to the accompanying drawing, of which Figure l is an elevation of a pail constructed according to my device; Fig. 2, a vertical section; and Fig. 3, a top ylew of same.
In the said drawing, A is the exterior or body of the pail, composed of tin, wood, or other suitable material. B is the bale or handle, U, the cover; D, the packing between body and lining; and E, the composition or interior lining, which is cast or spun up and properly attached to the body of the pail.
What I claim is Constructing a pail for use in prisons, &c., of tin or wood, A, having an interior or lining of composition,E, and a packing of non-conducting material, D, as a new article of manufacture, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
