Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Deo. 25,1917.
Application tiled March 1, 1918. Serial No. 81.310.
Tp all vckom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON Mooney, a
` subject of the Emperor of Austria, residing .will enable any one skilled inthe art to which it appertains to make and use the saine,
'reference beingy had to the accompanying drawings. foi-innig pai-tl of this specification,
The object, of my invention is to produce a wall orceiling fixturev for' electric light, which will be easy of assembly and insulation. and which has` concealed shade sup-- porting means of simple and efficient construct-ion.` Further objects `and advantages of the invention will appear from the following detailed description.
`Inithe accompanying drawings, which illustrate one embodiment of my invention, Figure 1' is a cross-sectional view of one tion `of the lamp socket shown in forni of my improved fixture; Fig. 2 is a hottoin plan view and Fig. 3 is a Isfide eleva# 1 represents a canop or walllate which may be of lglass, perce ain or ot er suitable material, and may; be attached in any suitable manner tothe ceiling or wall, for example, by means of screws (not shown).`
The canopy is provided with a central opening through which a lamp receiving shell 3 of a socket extends. The base 2 of this socket. is within the canopy and bears upon the inner surface thereof adjacent to the opening. rThe ylamp receiving shell 3 -is threaded `interiorly and exteriorly, and the insulating; member 4, which is also threaded interior and exteriorly, is adapted to screw over the shell 3, and is provided with a shoulder to bear `upon the exterior surface of the canopy, whereby the base 2 and the 'member 4 are clamped'together over the edge of the canopy opening.' A threaded shade supporting member 5 is adapted to screw over the insulating member 4, and, by means of the shoulder shown, to clamp the shade 8 against the exterior of the canopy.
In order to prevent the base 2 of the socket from turning when Athe lamp 4 is being turned into position, the interior of the fcanop v is provided with ai'ecess 6 into which a' proiection 7 on the base 2 enters.
In the assembly and insulation of the fix` turc, above described, the line wires may ,be connected to the socketand the socket then placed in positioniii the canopy' andv clamped there by means ofl the insu ting member 4. 'fliecanol'ivuis then attached to the wall or ceiling, after which the shade yis secured in position by ineansof the member '/It will be 'noted that all the parts are securelv and tirmly positioned, and that .the shade support is concealed.
Having .fully describedmy invention whatl claiinras ,new and desire to secure by Letterslatent of the United States, is: i l
'1. In adliglitingxture, the combinationy of a`- canopyor wall-plate havinga central opening. a lamp socket bearing against the inno: surface of said cano y and having an exteriorly and an interior j tlireaded, lamp.
