Specification describing certain Improvements in N eck-Tie Holders, invented by ALON- zo F. BIXBY, of Decatur, in the county of Macon and State of Illinois.
My invention relates to an article of manufacture--being a spring in a neck-tie-such spring having points fastened to it, or the points punched out of the metal, (when the spring is made of metah) the point-s engaging with the band of the collar and the band of the shirt and holding the neck-tie to the collar.
Figure l is a View of the concave side of the spring; Fig. 2, a View of the convex side of the spring. Fig. 3 is a section through the dotted lines a: Fig. 2.
A is the spring. This spring is covered With cloth, the ends ot'poiuts a. a protruding through the cloth. The bow of the neck-tie is sewn to the covering that is over the spring. The spring is placed under the turn-down of the collar, and the ends of the spring pressed so that the points shall pass through the band of the collar, thereby holding the neck-tie.
The point on the spring may be made and fastened as shown at a. The point is provided with a shoulder, which lits against the spring, and is riveted on the other side. The point on the spring maybe stamped or punched out, as shown at a', which is the cheapest7 and is preferable to the device show-n at a.
The spring may be made of vulcanized r'ubber, as Well as of metal, and when nlade of rubber the points should be of steel, and fastened to the spring, as shown at a; or the butt ofthe point provided With'a flange and molded with the rubber.
The bottomv of the spring may be made straight, as shown by the dotted lines in Fig. l, instead of being rounded.
I claim as my invention- The spring neck-tie holder A, with the points a a or a a', substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
