IMPROVEMENT IN BLACKING AND BRUSH HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,984, dated March 26, 1872.
Specification describing a new and Improved Blacking and Brush Holder, invented by EPHRAIM H. SWEETsER, of Salem, in the county' of VEssex and State of Massachusetts.
My invention consists of a large flat-bottoined metal cup with a set-screw and stud, adapted for receiving and holding blackingboxes of different sizes upon the bottom, with a long, partly-cylindrical and partly-conicaly case fitting on it in the place of a cover, and being open at the top to receive the daubingbrush, which I make round with a knob at the top for a handle to adapt it to fit into the top of said case for being kept in said ease, and so that the top of the brush forms the cover of said case, all as hereinafter described. i

It is open at the top, and the brush' F, which is made round for the purpose, its snugly in said case at the top and forms the cover. A knob, G, is made on the top of the brush for the handle. An ordinary box-cover, J, may be provided with the box A, to be used in case it is notpreferred to use the case D. This apparatus makes a neat and simple device for holding the blackingand the daubing brush, and preventing the smearing of the shelf Wherever the articles are kept.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
The cup A, having rim B and set-screw C, in combination with case D, conical and open at the top, and brush F fitting therein, all as and for the purpose described.
