COLLAPSIBLE SHAVIN'G SET.

Specification of Letters Patent.
'rammed not. er, ieri.
Application filed March 3, 1917. Serial No. 152,369.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT R. DIoKEN` soN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grant, in the county vof Grayson and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Shaving Sets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact de- Vscription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it a-ppertains to make and Vuse the same.
.This invention has for its object to provide a shaving set particularly designed for use by travelers, which may be conveniently and compactly collapsed or folded into a receptacle for' convenience in transportation.
Another object is the provision of a shaving set including a hollow supporting base,
a collapsible support adapted to be carried in the hollow base, and a detachable mirror carried by the support and constituting a closure for the base when the parts are folded or collapsed.
Vith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts Aas will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation, partly in section, v
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary side elevation,
Fig. 3 is a plan, the mirror and support being removed,
Fig. 4 is a detail section through the hollow base, and
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary side elevation of the mirror.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein similar reference numerals indicate corresponding pa-rts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 indicates a hollow base having an open upper end provided with an inwardly and downwardly directed flange 6.`
A socket 7 is secured in vertical position eccentrically within the cylindrical base 5 and is adapted to receive the lower terminal of a collapsible support or post 8, which latter is formed of a plurality of telescoping sections 9, 'the lower or relatively large section of which is adapted for insertion in the socket 7. The upper section vof the collapsible support receives a removable stem 10, having an integral flange 11 adapted to engage the top section to limit the movement of the stem with relation thereto. A pair of curved spring arms 12 is pivotally secured to an upstanding pin 13 carried by the plug or stem 10, and the free ends of the spring arms are apertured and resiliently engage a circular mirror 14 at diametrically opposed points. rlhe rim of the,
mirror is provided with outwardly projecting pins 15, adapted to engage in the apertures 1n the free ends of the spring arms 12 to support the mirror in adjusted position.
A spring brush holder 17 is fastened to the lower section of the collapsible support 8, and is adapted to support a shaving brush 18. A shaving soap receptacle or holder 19 is secured in the hollow base 5 underneath the brush 18 and is designed to hold soap.
In use, the parts of the shaving set are set up in operative position, as illustrated in Fig. 1. When it is desired to collapse or fold the seat, the Imirror 14 is removed from the arms 12 and the latter are swung together, detached from the upper section of the collapsible support 8, and are slipped into the' hollow base 5. The sections of the collapsible support are subsequently collapsed and inserted in the base 5, and the mirror 14 is positioned in the depending flange 6 of the base, the pins 15 of the mirror engaging in bayonet slots 20 formed in the flange 6, whereby the mirror is held in position with relation to the base and constitutes a closure therefor.
What I claim is:
1. A device of the character described including a hollow base, a socket secured therein, a collapsible support mounted in the socket and adapted, when collapsed, to be removed from the socket and received within the base, and a mirror carried by the sup Bort constituting a closure for the hollow ase. l
2. A device of the character described including a hollow base, a socket carried by the base, an inwardly. directed flange at the upper edge of the base, a collapsible supgort mounted in the socket and adapted to e collapsed and removed therefrom and placed in the base, and a mirror carried by the support adapted to be supported upon the flange to provide a closure for the base.
3. A device of the character described including a hollow base, a support carried by the base, said support being collapsible and adapted for insertion in the hollow base, a mirror, diametrically opposed pins carried by the mirror, means Carried by the support for engaging the pins to support the mirror in position, said mirror being adapted for insertion in the open end of the base to provide a closure therefor, and means associated with said pins for securing' the mirror in position in said base.
4. A. device of the character described 'including a hollow7 base, a support carried by the base, said support being collapsible and adapted for insertion in the hollow base, a mirror, arms pivotally secured to the support engaging and supporting the mirror and adapted to be folded together to facilitate insertion of the arms and support in the base, said mirror being adapted for insertion in the open end of the base to provide a closure therefor.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature` in presence of two Witnesses.
ROBERT R. DICKENSON. Witnesses:
