Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,814, dated March 19, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN T. HAMILTON, of
Greensburg, in the county of Decatur and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lifting-Jacks; and do hereby declare that thefollowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawin g and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a liftingjack, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and. use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a side view of my lifting-jack.
A and B, represent the two legs of my liftin g-j ack, pivoted together at their upper ends. To either the outer or inner side of the leg A is secured the bent guide-rod G, the upper end of which passes through and pivots the lever D to said'leg A. On the under side of the lever D is attached the toothed bar E, which passes between the leg A and rod 0, the teeth catching on the lower bent end of said rod, to hold the lever in any position.

The within-described liftin g-j ack, consistin g of the leg B and leg A, with rod 0 and lever D connected with the notched bar E acting on the rod 0, all as set forth.
