IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BOILERS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN T. MAXsoN, of De Witt, in the county of Clinton and in the State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in' VVash-Boilers; and do hereby declare that the following is' a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying p drawing and to the letters ofV reference `marked thereon making a part of this specification. l

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a washboiler,77 as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to' enable others skilled in the art to which myinvention appertains to make and luse the same, I will nowr proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure Il isa longitudinal vertical section of my wash-boiler, and. Fig. f2 is a transverse vertical section of the boiler, showing` a side View of the cylinder within the same. i

t, A represents a boiler ofany suitable size and shape, within which is placed a revolving cylinder constructed in the following manner. The circumference of the two heads B B is out, as shown in Fig. l, in the shape of long and curved teeth, to which are secured the plates or sections C (l, connecting the heads together, and thus forming the cylinder. `It will be noticed that, from the shape of` the edges ofA r. `inder. Upon' the inner side of each head B is placed a series of ribs, D D,radiating from .tion of a crank, G, by means of which the cylinder is revolved. One ofthe sections O ofthe cylinder is hinged, forming a door tothe same, through which the clothes are putin and taken out.

Having thus fully described my invention, l

what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. A cylinder for washing-machines, composed of the heads B B, sections G C, and concave ribs D Dand Dl D', all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
