COMBINATION isrnrnivrnnr AND CHECK BOOK,
. Spei fi cationof Letters-Patent; V
Applieation filed April 18, 1916. Serial No.91,865l 1 Z '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM: F. MARSTON,
Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing-- at Lake Crystal, in the county of Blue Earth and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Combination Statement and Check Book, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in a combination statement and check book.
The main object of this invention is to provide a simple, economical, convenient and eflicient combined check and pass book, so constructed and arranged that the same style check filler may be used in connection with a greater variety of covers of different materials.
A further object of the invention is to so construct a small, neat and novel combined check book and pass book, that the check filler and the statement sheet may be easily and readily attached and detached from the cover so that the depositor may be in possession of his check book at all times while his book is being balanced, and to afford facilities for its use with or without the statement sheet.
The foregoing and such other objects as may appear from the ensuing description are attained by the combination, arrangement and construction of the parts such as hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and particularly pointed out in the claims appended hereto.
Reference now being had to the accompanying drawings in which similar numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views, it will be seen that:
Figure 1, is a perspective view illustrating the inner side of the cover with an attachment secured thereto.
Fig. 2, is a plan view of the check filler showing the means for securing the checks together and fastening said filler to the cover.
Fig. 3, is a plan view of the statement sheet, and
Fig. A, is a detail side elevation of the book cover attachment removed from the cover.
In carrying out my invention I provide a cover 1 of any suitable or desirable material, and to the inner face of the back binding portion 2, is suitably and fixedly secured a longitudinal bar or plate 3 of any suitable material, preferably metal, which is provided' with a raised or thickened portion 4 at each end thereof, each of said portions 4: havlng a longitudinal opening 5 formed therethrough.
Thenumeral 6 designates a check filler or pad secured together with suitable staples 7, each staple being provided with a projection 8 extending in opposite directions,
and a line of jerforations 9, while 10 indicates the statement sheet provided with openlngs ll therethrough and a line of perforations 12.
It will be readily understood that the staples 7 are secured to the check pad or filler at the proper distance apart, and the sev eral parts are easily assembled together by inserting the projections 8 through the openings 11, then bending the check pad inward so as to insert the point of each projection 8 into the openings 5 when the said parts will be secured together by the outward rebound or movement of the check pad when released and allowed to straighten out, and the parts may be readily detached by pressing inward the ends of the check pad until the projections 8 become detached from the bar or plate 3.
I am aware that prior to my invention combination pass book and check book have been used, therefore I do not desire to claim this combination broadly, but what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A combined statement and check book comprising a cover, an attachment secured to the inner face of said cover provided with a longitudinal opening at each end thereof,
a statement sheet having openings therethrough, and a check pad provided with means for attaching the statement sheet and said pad to the cover.
2. A combined statement and check book comprising a cover, an attachment secured to the inner face of said cover provided with an enlargement at each end thereof having a longitudinal opening therethrough, a statement sheet having openings therethrough, and a check pad provided with means for attaching the statement sheet and said pad to the cover.
3. A combined statement and check book comprising a cover, an attachment secured to the inner face of said cover having a longitudinal opening at each end thereof, a statement sheet provided with openings, and
a check pad provided with securing means projecting in opposite directions for de-' 4:. A combined statement and check book comprising a cover, an attachment secured to the inner face of said cover having a thickened portion at each end thereof pro vided With a longitudinal opening therethrough, a statement sheet proirided with 10 openings therethrough, and a check pad hav -ing means for securing said pad provided With oppositely directed extensions adapted to engage the openings in the statement sheet and said longitudinal openings whereby the 15 said statement sheet and pad are attached 'to or detached from the said cover.
