IMPROVEMENT IN BOLTS FOR .DOUBLE DOORS, 86C.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,422, dated March 12, 1872.
I, DAVID B. GoNKLIN, of Hardwick township, Warren county, and State of New J ersey, have invented a new Mode of Fastening Doors, Gates, Windows, and Shutters, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to provide the means of instantly fastening doors, gates, windows, and shutters, so that they may be firmly secured at four distinct points without the use of a lock and key.
The accompanying drawing represents my invention as applied to double doors.
A is a horizontal lever pivoted to the door B, to which lever are pivoted the verticallymoving bolts (3 O that are secured by staples to the door, and elevated or depressed'by the movement of the horizontal lever A. The outer extremities of the bolts 0 O are pointed, and are impelled, by the upward action of the horizontal lever A, into slots or apertures in the casings D D. From the bolts 0 O, respect ively, project the arms E E, having hooked ends that catch in staples in the door F, and thus fasten it.
By the use of my invention the doors are locked at four several points, and may be fastened or unfastened at will. 7
I claim as my invention- Simultaneously fastening doors, gates, windows, and shutters by means of the horizontal lever A pivoted to the door B or its equivalent, the vertically-moving bolts 0 O, the slots or apertures in the casings D D, and the arms E E, terminating in hooked ends that catch in staples on the door F or its equivalent, ar-' ranged, constructed, and operating in the manner and for the purpose substantially as described.
