To all whom iii-may concern? Be it known that I, EARL S. M RRILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Golconda, in the county of Humboldt and State f:Nevada, have invented a new and useful Rack, of which the following is a specification. V

This invention relatesto a rack especially designed either for use as a sheet music holder or as a stand for holdingmanuscript being copied bya typist;

Gne of the objects'of the invention is to provide a collapsible rack havingmeansfor connecting it to a stand,"bracket or other suitable supporting means, whereby the same can be mounted on the floor after the manner of an ordinary music rack, or "can be connected to a table or other support. I

A further object is to provide a rack having an adjustable arm for supporting it from the stand or the like, said arm being adjustable to bring the arm to any desired position relative to its support.

Another object is to provide a structure of this character which can be readily collapsed so as to occupy but a small space, and which can be quickly set up. 7

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides inthe combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made 7 Within the scope of what is claimed, with out departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown.

the other end of said arm section being formed with an upstanding pintle 11. A set screw 12 is extended into the socket 9 and is adapted to engage pintle 8 to hold section 10 against swinging movement upon the pintle. Any desired number of arm sections may be employed. In Fig; 1 three of these sections have been illustrated, the

A socket member 13-similar tov the socket 9 is secured to the back of the lower end of the middle strip 14 of the rack, this middle strip having ledge sections 15 pivotally connected to the lower end thereof and top strips 16 pivotally connected to the upper end thereof, the said ledge sections and top strips being pivotally connected to side strips 17. Intermediate strips 18 may be pivotally connected to the side strips 17 and to the strip 14. Extension arms 19 are preferably pivotally connected to the sides and top of the rack and may be provided with integral clips 20. These arms are designed for use in connection with sheets of music or manuscript extending beyond the sides and top of the rack. When the rack is not in use it will be obvious that the same can be folded inwardly and upwardly, so that the side strips 17 will lie close to and parallel with the strip 14. A set screw 21 is provided for securing the socket 13 upon one of the pintles 11.

A set screw 27 is provided for securing the sleeve 22 to the post 6. d

When the device is to he used as a music rack, the standard 1 ispreferably employed, post 6 being adjusted therein to any desired elevation and, if desired, the arm section 10 can be dispensed with and the socket 13 placed directly on the pintle 8. Should it be desired to extend the rack to a point beyond the post 6, however one or more of the arm sections 10 can be interposed between i he rack and the post 6. Should it be desired to use the rack without the standard 1 and to attach it to a table so that the device will thus be especially useful in holding manuscript to be copied by a typist, the post '6, is removed from standard 1 and the edge Copies 'of this patent may be obtained for These of a table or other support is inserted between arms 25 and fastened thereto by means of the binding screw 26. If it is preferred to attach the device to a wall or the like, the arm 23 can be employed, screws or other fastening means being inserted into the openings 24. What is claimed is I A rack, comprising a post, a sleeve adjustable on the post, spaced arms extending from one side of the sleeve, a clamping screw carried by one of the arms, an angular arm extending from the opposite side of the sleeve, another arm pivotally mounted on the post, and a frame secured to said arm.
