FISHERMANS GLOVE.
Specification or Letters Patent. a Patented Oct, 16, 191 '1,
Application filed April 19, 1916. Serial lie. 92,202.
Toall whom it may concern:
use in handling freshly caught fish.
, One of the objects of the invention is to provide a glove or similar device, which may be readily placed'upon the hand, the same being provided with metallic members having points orserrations adapted to engage the'body of a freshly caught fish, to prevent the same from slipping outof the hand. A
further object is to provide a glove ofethe character referred to, with metallic members .that are shaped to secure efiective results, and/which may tached to the glove.
be readily and firmly at- The invention will be hereinafterfully set Claims. v I
In the accompanying drawing:-
Figure lis a perspective view ofa glove constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan view i1lustrating one of the metallic en ging devices. I
Fig. 3 is a transversesectiona view thereof, illustrating the method of attaching the same to the glove. Fig. 4 is a similar view taken at'right angles to Fig. 3.
Referring to the drawing, designates i band covering, which may be of an de-.
sired form or style, a glove being s own for illustrative purposes, the same being orovided with-the usual finger portions 11, md thumb portion 12, the body of the glove icingJ open at one side as indicated at 13, a
le strap 1&, and buckle 15, serving to- :uita ecure the glove around the wrist of the vearer.
Located contiguous to the outer endsof he finger portions 11 and the thumb portion 2, inside of the hand, are metallic (iISkS 16, which may be of any desired shape, but referably star shape 1n plan view, as illus- 'rated in the drawings, the edges of said isks being outturned, and provided'with arrations 17, suitably shaped. to slightly nter the flesh of a fish. Said disks are )mewbat dished so as to provide a concave ack face. The disks are attached removbly to the fabric forming the glove, by
\eans of staples 18, the arms of said staples hand, andthe particularly pointed out in the covering havin 1 being passed through suitable spaced apart slots in the bases of the disks, and after passing through the fabric 19, and through corresponding openin in a'slightly dished clamping pla-te20, sai arms are turned over or olenc ed to retain the parts in position. In-prderto reinforce the glove to prevent the'disks from tearing out it is preferred to insert reiiiforoing members 21, of the same material as the glove, between the bases of: the disks 16. and the glove fabric. In order to prevent discomfort to the wearer, lining pieces 22' are attached to the glove fabric in position extend over the clampin plates and-st les. I
love is placed upon the noperation' t e g isks 16 are so positionedthat the" wearer may readily grasp afreshlyy.
caught fish in such a manner that the serratime will prevent the fish from slip in out of the hand; By slightly dishing tlie (isks, the ends of the fingers fit thereinto soas to obtain an efl'ective bearing, thereby insuring the grasp of the fish without material rela-' tive movement of the fingers and the disks. By employing the staples 18, the disks may be readily secured in position, and should they become damaged, may be easily removed and replacedi with little or no trouble.
Having thus exp ained the nature of my invention and described an operative manner of constructing and using the same, al-
I though without attempting to set forth all of the forms. in which it may be, made, or
all of the forms of its use, what I claim 1. A fishermans glove comprisinga hand portions and a thumb portion, meta ks located contiguous to the outer ends of said fihger portions and said thumb portions, said disks having outcovering havin finger portions and a thumb portion, metal ic isks located contiguous turned serrated edges and spacedapart slots to the outer ends of said finger portions and said thumb portion, said dlsks having outturned serrated edges and spaced apart slots, clamping plates op osite said disks and located within the g ove, said plates having to. said slots, and the slots of said openings correspondin staples. passed throng 'plates and having their ends disks and the openin'gsof said clamping bent over against said clamping plates to removably retain the disks in position.
3. A fishermans glove comprising a hand covering provided with metallic disks having outturned serrated edges, reinforcing member s interposed between the respective disks and the hand covering, staples passed through said disks, said reinforcing tions, and the body of the hand covering, said staples having their ends clenched inside of the hand covering, and lining pieces covering the clenched ends of the staples.
i. A fishermans glove comprisin ahand covering provided with metallic disks having outturned serrated edges, said disks being dished to provide conca'ved back faces, staples passed through 'S8.ld disks and extending through to the interior of said hand covering, and lining plates shaped to con form to said disks, the ends of said staples being clenched against the inner faces of said plates.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
