TROUSERS-sirname.
To all whom it may concern.;
Be it known that I, TrrEoDoR'HLUBUoEK,
a citizenfot1 the United States, residing at for the ready control and heating of the steam employedwith the device.'
A further object of the` invention is the provision of a garment steamer upon which a pair of trousers is readily positioned and resiliently maintained thereon in stretched arrangement during the steaming operation whereby the leg portions thereof are Suitaby creased and a perfect shape given to the garment.
, .A still further object is the provision of a steaming form having portions thereof ex-V pandible for reception within the leg portions of a pair of trousers, provision being made for supplying steam therein suitably dried and heated..
In the drawing forming a part of this application and in which like designating characters refer to corresponding parts throughout the several .views Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view taken upon line 1 1 of: Fig. 2 with parts shown in elevation.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device with the steam drying pipe broken away.
Fig. 3 is a .transverse sectional view through one leg member and taken substantially upon line II-H of Fig. l, and, y
Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the shiftable section of one of the leg members of the device with a portion of the covering material cut away.
The present device being'primarily designed for steaming trousers, the same broadly consists of .a hollow casing 10 of substantially the form of a pair of trousers and adapted for the reception of steam for passing through the trousers which are readily arranged thereon. An upright or standard 11 has a base 12 and a mounting head 13, upon which head the end plate 14 of VSp'eeileation of Letters .Patent )Patented Det. 16, 1917 Application iled March 26, 1917. Serial No. 157,463.
' the casing 10 is xedly secured whereby the said casing is supported in a horizontal dil rection projecting perpendicularly from the standard 11.. The casing tions or leg portions 16 projecting from the body l5 in parallel relations with each other at the opposite end thereof from the plate 14- Each of the legs 16 is expansible and inlcludes a main lower portion 17, substantially ill-shaped 1n. cross-section, -formed integral V.
with the body 15, while an upper smaller section 18 also V-shaped in cross-section and .inverted is vertically `shiftably positioned within the adjacent lower section 17.
The free outer ends of the sections 17 and 18 are closed by means of end walls 19 and 2O respectively,.while perforations 21 are provided through both'sections of the legs 16 adapted for the passage of steam therethrough for heating as well as passing,
through a suitable covering A22 4arranged thereon and adapted for engagement with the inner face of the trousers when operatively positioned upon the casing 10.
A guiding means is provided for the leg sections 'consisting of opposite pins 23 car- A in their extended positions. A fabric 26 is 'preferably arranged between the adjacent free inner edges ofthe upper section 18 and the lower section 17 for preventing the esca'pe of steam between the said sections, al-
thoughthe covering 2 2 of the upper section y 10 has its body-.- portion 15 secured to the plate 14, bifurcavried by the lower sections 17 and arranged 18 serves as a packing between the said v sections at their points of contact.
A steam filled pipe A27 has a l"shaped tting 28 provided Iwith branch pipes 29 which extend through theA plate 14, theV branch pipes being provided with perforated extensions 30 positioned within the legs 16, the branch pipes 29 being secured to the plate 14 by means of mounting bosses 36 with which the pipes 29 have screw-threaded engagement. A coil 31 surrounds the pipe 29 and has an inlet end 32 passing through the plate 14 and is providedwith a Tetting 33 exterially of the casing that communicates with a similar coil associated with the other leg portion, whilethe opposite end 34 sers arranged upon the casing l0 in stretched relation, steam is admitted by means of Athe pipe 27 and 'IT-fitting 28 through the pipes 29 and 30 into the casing 10, suitablev valve f' controlled means being provided therefor, the steam passing outwardly throughv the perforations 2l and the cover 22 and acting upon the trousers while the steam remaining within the device is maintained heated and is dried by means of the coil 31, the su ply of steam thereto entering by means oi' the T-ftting 38. Springs 25vmaintain the forward and rear portions of the trouser legs in close contact with the'sharpened upper and lower edges of the casing legs 16, thereby imparting suitable creases thereto as well as pressing the trousers during the steam cleaning operation.
What l claim as new is :--l
l. A. garment steamer comprising a casing, expansible perforated members for the casing, spring means for expanding the same, steam supplying means therefor, and vsteam drying means therefor.
2. A garment steamer comprising a casing of trouser form having expansible leg portions arranged with perforations, spring means for expanding the same, perforated pipes arranged' within the device, and a ,steam drying coil carried by the said pipes.
3. A' device of the class described comprising a standard, a plate carried by the standard, a trouser formof casing having a body-portion secured to the plate extending horizontally and arranged with leg portions extending therefrom, each comprlsing upper and lower separate t-shaped sections, guide connections 'between the said leg sections, tensioned expansion means within the leg sections whereby the latter' are normally maintained extended, and steam heating means within the casing.
4. A device of the class described comprising a standard, a plate carried by the standard, a trouser form of casing having' a bodyportion secured to the plate extending horizontally and arranged with leg por through the said plate, a steam drying coil.
surrounding the steam pipe, and perforated branch pipes communicating with the supply pipe terminating in the said leg portions of the casing.
5. A device of the class described comprising a standard, a plate carried by the standard, a trouser form of casing having a body-portion secured to the plate extending horizontally and arrangedwith leg portions extending therefrom, each comprising upper and lower separate V-shaped sections, guide connections between the saidv leg sections, tensoned expansion means within the leg sections whereby the latter are normally maintained extended, a steam pipel arranged through the' said plate, perforatedI branch pipes communicating with thelsupply pipe terminating in the said leg portions of the casing, a drain pipe arranged at the bottom of the said body-portion adjacent the said plate, the bottom of the lower leg sections being arranged inclined toward the said plate, and a steam heating coil arranged within the body-portion of the casing.
6. A garment steamer comprising a trouser-Shaper casing having spring pressed eX- pansible leg portions closed at the free ends thereof and provided with side perforations with inclined trough-shaped bottoms, a drain the sections of said leg portions `together adapted for the prevention of thel escape of steam therebetween'.` ln testimony whereof lafx my signature.
