GABMENT-STEAMING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODOR HLUBUCEK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cedar Rapids, in the county of Linn and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Steaming Devices, of which the following is a specification. I
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in garment steaming devices.
The primary object of the 1nvent1on is the provision of a steaming form for garments such as coats and jackets, the same having a serviceable steam heating means so arranged as to prevent the condensation of steam arranged within the form or passing through the goods.
A further object of the device is the provision of a garment steamer to which fabrics and articles may be readily applied for the uniform action of superheated dry steam thereon, the structure being easy and inexpensive to manufacture.
In the drawing forming a part of this application and in which like designating characters refer to corresponding parts throughout the several views, the view represents a vertical central longitudinal section of the device with parts broken away and portions illustrated in elevation.
The present invention may be embodied in difierent forms for the advantageous steaming of desired garments with dry steam and is herein illustrated as designed for steaming jackets and coats and broadly formed of a hollow metallic body or caslng 10 of the general shape of the human trunk and having a hollow arm member 11 arranged at one ofthe shoulder portions 12 thereof. The body 10 and arm 11 are made of suitable metal and are provided with a plurality of perforations 13 for allowing the steam which is fed into the body by means of an axially arranged perforated pipe 14 to pass outwardly of the body into and through a felt or cloth covering or envelop 15 for action upon the goods, such as a coat which is mounted upon the body 10 with the arm member 11 arranged through the arm of the coat, it being understood that the said body may be provided with two arms instead of one if found desirable.
The feed pipe 14 for the steam is mounted upright upon a standard or base 16 and extending through the body 10 has its upper end closed by a cap 17 upon which the top or neck portion 18 of the body is seated. A steam inlet valve 19 'is provided for the pipe 14 beneath the body 10 while a branch pipe 20 communicates therewith which may also be connected to a source of steam supply if desired. A coil 21 surrounds the pipe 14 within the body 10 being connected at its upper end by means of a pipe 22 with the branch pipe 20 and arranged with a controlling valve 23. The lower end of the coil 21 is connected by means of a pipe 24 with adrain pipe 25 being controlled by means of a valve 26. It will be understood that the hot steam passing outwardly through the perforations 27 in the pipe 14 becomes further heated and dried by means of the coil 21 increasing its etliciency in the dry steaming process.
An upper and a lower tubular radiator 28 and 29 respectively, are positioned within the casing 10 adj acent the inner face thereof and conforming in general outline to the shape of the casing, it being noted that the lower radiator 29 is substantially funnelshaped, each radiator having an annular steam-receiving chamber 30 therein. The radiator 28 is connected to the branch pipe 20 by means of a pipe 31 tapped into the said radiator adjacent the top thereof and provided with a controlling valve 32. An outlet pipe 33 is tapped into the lower portion of the radiator 28 and connects with the drain pipe 25 being controlled by a valve 34.
In a similar manner, a pipe 35 is tapped into the lower radiator 29 adjacent the upper end thereof and is connected to the branch pipe 20 being provided with a controlling valve 36 while an outlet pipe 37 connects the lower end of the radiator 29 with the drain pipe 25 being controlled by a Valve 38.
The complete operation of the device will be apparent from this detailed description thereof, it being understood that steam is admitted into the body 10 through the pipe 27 from the line pipe 20 controlled by the valve 19 while such steam is dried and maintained heated and the temperature thereof increased by means of the superheating coil 21 and the radiators 28 and 29, the latter heating the steam substantially simultaneously with its passage through the sides of the body 10 for engagement with the goods to be operated upon.
A serviceable garment steamer is arranged in which the steam may be readily controlled and the garment or fabric positioned upon the device quickly and thoroughly renovated.
What I claim as new is:-
1. Heating mechanism for a garment steamer comprising a perforated steam feed pipe, a superheating coil surrounding the said pipe and steam radiators surrounding said pipe and coil arranged Within the steamer adjacent the sides thereof.
2. A garment steamer comprising a steam ejecting pipe, a superheater for the steam aranged adjacent the 'said pipe, and a steam radiator surrounding the said pipe and superheater.
3. A steamer comprising a perforated casing, a perforated steam dispensing pipe axially arranged within the casing, a superheating coil surrounding the said perforated pipe, radiators surrounding the coil, and independent steam inlet and outlet connections for the coil and radiators.
4. A steamer comprising a perforated casing, a perforated steam dispensing pipe axially arranged Within the casing, superposed tubular radiators arranged within the casing adjacent the sides thereof, and surrounding the dispensing pipe, the lower one of said radiators being tapered substantially conforming to the shape of the adjacent sides of .the casing, and separate steam inlet and outlet pipes for the said steam radiators.
5. A steamer comprising a perforated casing, a perforated steam'dispensing pipe axially arranged Within the casing, asuperheating coil surrounding the said perforated pipe, steam inlet and outlet connections for the coil, superposed tubular radiators arranged Within the casing adjacent the sides thereof, and surrounding the dispensing pipe and coil, the lower one of said radiators being tapered substantially conforming to the shape of the adjacent sides of the casing, and separatesteam inlet and outlet pipes for the said radiators.
