APPLICATION FILED NOV. 18. I916- Patented Sept. 4,1917;
ERNEST NORMAN, 0F LACHINE, QUEBEC, CANADA.
GLOTHES-PIN BAG.
Specification of Letters Patent.
{Patented Sept. 4, 1917.
Application filed November 18, 1916. Serial No. 132,149.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST NORMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lachine, in the Province of Quebec and Dominion of Canada, have invented newand useful Improvements in Clothes-Pin Bags, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved bag for use for holding and carrying clothes pins and the like and to facilitate the handling and use of clothes pins, the object of the invention being to provide an improved bag of this character which embodies a stiffening wire ring around the bag opening and which ring is provided with upwardly extending intertwisted portions and also with downwardly and outwardly bent portions formed with bights which pass around the ring wire and with upwardly extending terminal hooks which serve to conveniently hang the bag from the apron string of the user.
The invention consists in the construction and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure l is a front elevation of a clothes pin bag constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a detailed sectional view of the same.
The bag 1 may be made of duck or other suitable material and comprises a front 2 and a back 3. The bag is closed at the upper and lower ends and also at the sides and is provided at the front side near the upper end of the bag with a circular entrance opening 4 through which clothes pins or the like may be placed in or taken out of the bag.
I also provide a wire stifiening ring 6 which extends around the opening and is secured in a casing 7 around the opening. At its upper side and at the center and top of the bag the wire stiffening ring is formed with upwardly extending intertwisted portions 8 from the upper ends of which are bent downwardly and outwardly extending portions 9 which are formed with bights 10 which pass around the ring wire, the wire terminating in hooks 11 which extend upwardly from the ring and the bills 12 of which over-hang the rear side of the bag. The hooks enable the bag to be readily hung from a line or from any convenient support and from the apron string of the user, as may be desired.
The back of the bag is formed at the upper end with loops 13 which pass forwardly over those portions of the wire ring between the intertwisted parts 8 and the portions 9, said loops being stitched to the inner or front side of the back, and a reinforcing patch 14 is also provided which is stitched to the inner or front side of the back and is exposed at the upper center of the entrance opening.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A bag closed at both ends and sides and having an entrance opening in one side near the upper end, and a wire stifiening ring secured to said side and extending around the opening, the wire forming the said ring having upwardly extending intertwisted portions and also having downwardly and outwardly bent portions formed with bights which pass under and around the ring wire and with upwardly extending terminal hooks.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ERNEST NORMAN.
