memos.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES KLAUBERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, having invented certain new and use ful Improvements -in Bottle-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.
This inventionTrelates to bottle holders and especially to devices for holdin nursing bottles for babies in position %or the baby to be fed therefrom, or in inoperative position so thatthe milk will not bespilled therefrom.
A special object is to provide a holder of this kind which may be folded into compact form for transportation and which may be quickly set upinto position for holding the bottle when desired. Other objects will 20' appear as the description proceeds.
The invention will be first hereinafter described in connection with the accompanying drawings, which constitute part of this specification, and then more specifically defined in the claims at the end of the descrip tion. In the accompanying drawings, wherein similar reference characters are used to des- Figure 1 is aperspective View ofthe pre ferred embodiment of the invention applied to a bottle in operative position.
. Fig. 2 isa similar view in inoperative position, and
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the holder in folded position. o
The bottle holder is made of wire of any suitable or desired cross-section, and consists of two parts or frame members 2 and 3 hinged together to permit them to be arranged in the relative osition shown in Figs. 1 and 2'wh'en used or holding a bottle 1, and to also be folded intothe same plane, as illustrated in Fig. 3, for more conveniently carrying the holder when not in use. The frame 2' comprises essentially a ring 4 at the" upper ends of angularly bent portions 5 at the opposite end of said frame from that to which the frame 3 is hinged. In making the frame 2 a single piece of wire is preferably used, the same being coiled to form the ring 4 and the end portions of the wire bent to form the portions 5 as well as thespaced side portions 2 of the frame. The extremities of said side portions 2 are bent 'to form eyes 6 by means of which the frame 3 is hinged to the frame 2.
The frame 3 com rises essentially a pair of resilient gripping arms 8 adapted to engage the body of the bottle 1, and a loop .7 with which the 'eyes 6 are connected to form the lunge oint. In making the frame .in said ring and the body portion of the bottle placed between the resilient arms 8 and said bottle supported in operative position upon the body portion of the frame 2. The holder'is also adapted to support the bottle in inoperative position, as illustrated in Fig. 2, the eyes 6 and bottom of the bottle being the'poin'ts of support in this instance. -When thesupport is not in use the frame 3 with the arms 8 may be folded into the plane of the body portion of the frame 2, as illustrated inFig. 3, thereby making the device much more convenient to carry than would be possible if it were made in a single'rigid piece. Another important advantage'in the present construction is that the two frames may be more cheaply buffed separately after being plated because of the accessibility of the parts. Beforethe two frames 'are connected together, the eyes 6 maybe opened, as indicated in dotted lines in Figs. 1 and 2, and after bufiing the loop 7 may be placed in the eyes and said eyes closed, as'shown in solid lines.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. A bottle holder comprising two frames hinged together and adapted to be folded upon one another when not in use, each frame having means for holding a bottle,
the means of one frame being resilient and opening at one side to permit the body of the bottle to be inserted and withdrawn.-
2. A-bottle holder comprising two frames hinged together and adapted to be folded upon one another when not in use, one frame having a ring to engage the neck of a bottle and the other frame having a pair'of re- Patented Sept. a, 191?. Application filed October 18. 1916. Serial No. 126,273.
silient arms for gripping the body of the bottle.
' eyes, whereby one frame may be folded upon the other when the holder is not in use. 4. A bottle holder comprising two frames, each made of a single piece of wire, one
frame having the middle portion of the wire I bent to form a loop and the ends to form resilientbottle gripping arms, the other frame having the middle portion of the Wire coiled to form a ring to encircle the neck of. the bottle, and the extremities ofsaid wire'being bent to form eyes. pivotally connected to the loop of the first frame.
-tle, the other frame having a ring for encircling the neck of the bottle and eyes connected to the loop of the first. frame to form the hinge, whereby one frame may be folded upon the other when the holder is not in use.
6. A bottle holder comprising two frames of wire hinged together and adapted to be folded one upon the other when not in use, one frame having a pair of gripping arms, and the other framehaving spaced side portions between which said arms are adapted to lie when the holder is folded.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
