application filed December 2&3, 1916. Serial No. 139,662.
. for the purpose of holding the electric wires out of the way of the operator and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide an attachment of the character indicated lwhich is of simple and durable structure and which when applied does not interfere with the manipulation or operation of the iron and at the same time havingr its parts so arranged as to hold the electric wires ont 'of the way oi' the operator and above the ironing hoard.
ln the accompanying drawing:-
Figure 1 is a perspective view oiE the iron with an attachment applied.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary horizontal sectional view of the same;
Fig. 3 is a slmilar vertical sectional View 4 and thus the Said wires are held above the surface of the ironing board and out of the Way of the operator. A link (i is pivotally connected with the lower end of the block 3 and links T are pivotally connected at one end with the lower endv of the link 6 and the other ends of the links 7 are pivotally connected with the handle of the iron 1 by means of a set screw 8 or similar securing device. While the block 3, link (i and links 7 are pivotally connected, these pivotal connections are salliciently tight or stili as to hold lthe said parts at the positions to which they are adjusted with relation to each other.
ln operation, the iron may be freely used over the ironing hoard and the wires 2 are sustained ahove the hoard while the links 6 and T permit the iron to hemove'd longitudinally 'or sidewise as desired.
From the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, itivill be seen that an attachment of simple form is provided and that the saine will ellectnally hold the electric wires above the ironing board and ont of the way of the operator.
`llfaving Adescriloed the `invention what is claimed is An attachment for an electric iron comprisinp,l a hlock, a loop carried at one end of the block through which the Wires ot the iron may he threaded. a link pivotally connected with the lower portion of the hlock. other links pivotally connected at om` end with the lower end of the first mentioned link, and means for connectingl the last mentioned links with the handle of thciron.
