Another object, of y invention resides in the provision of a novel closure for one of the inaiich compartments. the latter being provided with an improved abrasive. means ;or facilitating the striking of merciless and having the sides thereof arm-n to form id to facilitate the lightln of :1 march.
a sine A further objectoij my inven n resides in the provision of a comhinel toiaacco and match box preferahl," of the usual construc tion llEY'lDQ the partitions associated therenitl. in 5: ch :1 manner that differene articles or materials may he expeditiously carried therein.
A still. sides in. the provision of :1. device of the clnrscter described that, is simple in construction. eflicient in operation and, one that can be manufactured and placed on the meniret a minimum cost.
Ossher objects as Well as the nature, charscteristic features and scope of my invention will he more readily understood from the following desc'iption taken in connection with i'he accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims forming a part of this specification.

with the dense are 1 is a. side elevsibional View of the is a top plan viewof the box cover open; and v Fig. 6 is a transverse sectional View taken on the line 66.- of Fig. in the direction in which the arrow points.
Refer-rim: more particularly to the drawings in which similar reference numerals designate like or corresponding parts throughout the difi'erent views, 1 provide abOX or recepsacle including a body 1 formed preferably of metal and having the sides thereof straight and parallel and the ends curved, in cross section. This body is constructed in the usual manner, being foried preferably from one sheet of materi-i, the marginal edges of which are sel djnceni; one curved. end by bending the upon themselves as illustrated by the numer: l :2. A bottom 3 isprovided and secured adjacent the lower edge of the receptacle in a. groove s depressed from the This botiom is crirnped inter mediate its ends as illustrated bv the 'nuineral 5 to 'prorideiu match striker. The e' i-reme lower sl rn' h'e side edges of he bod are be outwardly to movide a flange 6, this flange extending ihroughopt the length of both the lower Side edges and one curved edge. The space between the bottom and the lower edge of the body constitutes a compartment for receiving matches,
said compartment being closed through the medium of a sliding door 7 the longitudinal edges of which are bent upon themselves to provide engaging flanges 8 for association Inward movement of the door is limited through the medium of a shoulder 9 adjacent one curved end, the op.-.
posite end of the door is curved es illustinted by the numeral 10 and arranged. in
alinement with one of the curved ends of the box. The compartment nst formed can retaln matches or other 'materml or elseit canoe used to facilitate the lighting of a match, for instance a. match can he lighted through the medium of the corrugated strip 5. While the sides of the body adjacent the lower end serve as a shield. In order to provide another container for matches Within the main body. I have provided an arcuate partition 11. the latter having a circular plate 12 extending laterally therefrom for a purpose to be hereinafter described. The partition 11 is inserted in the limdv and a1? rangedso that the free edge of the plate 12 abuts the inner surface of one curved end of the body so that the plate constitutes a bottom for the compartment provided therev or main body'l and consequently close the compartmenn'I have provided a cover 18, the latter having its depending flange 19 hinged as at 20 to the body. The outwardly depressed short grooves 15 provide extending ribs 21 which limit the downward movement of the cover when in an opened position while the transverse depressed groove ll. forms an elongated transverse rib 22 which limits the downward movement of the cover on the box. This construction is illus trated to advantage in the drawings. It is to be'understood that the space between the outer surface of the curved partition and the opposite end of the body provides a space for receiving tobacco or other material.
Although I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I desire it to be understood that I am not to be limited to the exact details shown, however, I desire'that great stress be laid upon the arrangement of the combined box for receiving various materials, the box itself being somewhat similar to the other construction of tobacco boxes now in use. Attention is also directed to the novel compartment and closure thereforat the bottom of the body, which will either serve as a match receptacle or a wind shield.
From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it can easily be seen that I have provided a few simple parts that can the cheaply manufacturcd and assembled and when assembled can be placed upon the market and sold at a minimum cost.
It will be understood thattli'e. above description and. accompanying dr .ngs comprehend only the preferred eml i'odiment'of myinvention and that 'ariousmi' a-changcs in detail of construction, prop ion and arrangement of the parts may be made within the scope of the appended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of two compartments and secured in said body member intermediate its ends, flanges extending from the edges of one end of the body member, a closure in slidable engage ment with said flanges for closing one compartment. an arcuate transverse partition arranged vertically in the other compartment. a plate secured at an intermediate point between the concave face of the arcuate partition and the inner face. of the body member, a cover pivotally mounted on the upper end of the body for closing the other compartment.
2. A combined match and tobacco receptacle comprising a tubular body. a partition secured in the body at a point intermediate its ends to provide a lighting compartment and atobacco cohtaining compartment, a closure for the lighting compartment in slidableengagement with an end of the receptacle, a match containing receptacle disposed in the tobacco containing compartment and secured atone side of the compartment adjacent the open end thereof, and a closure secured to said receptacle for closing said tobacco containing compartment.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
