Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,548, dated February 1872.
Montrose, Susquehanna county, Pennsylvania,
have invented a Toy Rocking-Chair and Oase for the same, ot' which the following is a full,
clear, and correct description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing makin g part of this specification and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in Which- Figure l is a view of my toy rocking-chair and case combined. Fig. 2 is a view ot the chair removed from the case. Fig. 3 is a view of the bottom or lower portion ot' the case.
In the drawing, which is made to correspond in size with the model, like parts are desig nated by the salue letters of reference.
The nature ot' the present invention consists in the construction, as more fully hereinafter set forth, of a toy rocking-chair and case for the same; the object of the inventionbeing the production of a toy for children, and at the same time to form ame-ans for packing,` the same securely for transportation.
To enable those skilled in the arts to make and use my invention, the following description will be found sufficient.
A shows the block of wood from which th chair is to be formed, by sawing the same out by means of al scroll or bandsaw. B shows the chair formed by sawing the same out of the block A by means of a scroll or band saw, the work being turned beneath the saw so as to give the desired shape to the chair B. O shows a bottom piece or base for the case, which, when in position, is placed beneath the seat of the chair B, and servesrto hold the same in the case A formed of the block A.
By forming` the chair and case for the saine from the saine block or piece of wood, I produce a new and useful article of manufacture, and at the saine time afford a ready and safe `ineans for packing and preserving from injury in transportation the chair so formed, the latter being easily placed within the case or block Ain the position it occupied before being sawed out.
H avin g now set forth my invention, I claim- As a new article of manufacture, the chair B and case A and O, when the sainev shall be constructed substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
