To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, RALPH V. BLAKE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York city, county and State of New York, have invented a new and use ful Pocket Attachment for Holders, &c., of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to what may be termed a supplementary pocket for carrying tickets, such as commutation tickets, passes and street car and subway tickets.

The main object is to provide a simple and convenient means for carrying such objects. Another object is to provide such a construction which can be readily attached to the inside pocket of any coat and be readily accessible and yet unobtrusive.

Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the use of one form of construction embodying my invention.

From the drawings the invention will be seen to comprise a device having one or more pockets, in one case three, together w1th means for readily attaching the device to the cloth of the wearers coat.

In the form shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the pocket portion of the device is formed of a blank of suitable material, such for instance, as celluloid. The part 10 forms the back of the device and the two flaps 11 and 12 form the front. The flap .13 is folded between the back and the front and forms an intermediate wall which constitutes the front of the main rear pocket 14 and the back of the two front pockets 15 and 16. The two flaps l1 and 12 may be secured together by means of an eyelet, staple or other suitable device 17, inserted through holes 17. The flaps 18 and 19 are bent upward at the rear so as to close the pockets at the bottom.

The device is secured to the fabric by means of the member shown in Fig. 4, which consists of a stripv of metal or wire 20 secured at 21 to a flap 10 at the top and provided at its lower front end with a button 22 which projects through the hole 23 at the rear of the back 10. The rear end of the strip 20 is provided with an opening 24 somewhat larger than the head of the button 22. The device is put in use by inserting the rear member of the strip 20 into the pocket or other horizontal opening in the coat, vest or other wearing apparel. The rear end of the strip is then forced forward so as to push the head of the button 22 into the fabric and through the opening 24. The locking piece '25 is then pushed over the fabric and the head of the button 22, and turned so as to lock the parts in place. This holds the parts securely so that the attachment cannot become disengaged accidentally.

The strip 20 may be provided with a number of projections such as 26 to increase the grip or friction upon the ticket or other article inserted in the pocket 14.

In the form shown pieces of celluloid are required, one piece has a portion forming the back 30 with the rear flap 31, intermediate flap 32, and the two side flaps 33. The other piece forms the front 34 and the two rear flaps 35. The two side flaps 33 are secured to the front, for instance, by means of an eyelet 36. This particular form has two pockets, one in front of the other. In this form the fastening device consists of a button 37 projecting forwardly from the rear member 38 and acting in conjunction with a tab 39 having the opening 40.

In the form shown in Figs. 8 and 9 one piece of celluloid is employed which is so shaped as to form a single pocket. In this case the part 41 constitutes the back, 42 is the rearwardly and downwardly extending flap, 43 is the front, and 4444 are side flaps which are bent to the rear and inserted through slots in the base plate 45 which car ries a button 46 projecting to the rear. A resilient strip 47 constitutes the member which fits in the pocket and is provided with a T-shaped slot 48. The head of the button 46 is adapted to be inserted in the broad portion of the slot 48 when the strip 47 is drawn downward. By allowing the strip 47 to come back to its normal position of rest the narrow portion in Figs. 5 and 6', two

of the slot 48 draws the fabric up around the shank of the button 46, and holds this part in position with out the use of any additional locking member.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the device may be made in a number of different ways and may be readily attached and detached to any pocket or to any horizontal member.

It Will be obvious that the particular use ofthe device is not material to the broader aspect of my invention, but that the holder may be employed for other articles than tickets, andthat the shape of the pockets will be" varied to correspond with the shape or size of the article which it is desired to carry. It will also be obvious that the invention is adapted to devices for carrying cigars, cigarettes, matches, pencils, and the like. 7 r

I claim:

An attachment for pockets and the like comprising a ticket receptacle member, a downwardly extending member connected to the top of said receptacle member, one of said members having an opening, a button carriedby the other member adapted to force fabric through said opening and a catch cooperating with said button for the purpose specified;
