. VANITY-CASE HOLDER.
Application fi1ed Ju1 y 18,1925, Serial No. 44,457.
LESLIE a citizen of the United States,3residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State and useful Improvements in Vanity-Case Holders, of which the following is a spec1-f This invention relates to improved means;
for attaching a vanity case tonan' article of wearing apparel, provide such whereby it may b apparel of the to receive and rele a holder member wearer,
and has'for its object to with means, e readily-connected to the and which is adapted asably retain a vanity case or other similar receptacle.
A further obje form this holder of a plate ct of the invention is to of sheet material having an offset clamping arm by which the holder may nected to the ap be readily and detachably conparel of the wearer, the
plate also being provided with resilient fingers movably gripped With these and between which a receptacle may be reand retained.
other objects in view, the
invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and parti appended claim.
cularly pointed out in the Inthe accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is my improved holder as attached to an article of wearing apparel and showing a vanity case as removably mounted v p in the holder. Figure 2 is a front view illustrating the holder as struck from sheet stock with gr1p fingers thereon and a holding arm formed integral therewith.
Figure 3 is a perspective view illustrating the attaching plane of the rear resilient gripping arm as raised from the face of the plate and the fingers as projecting forwardly from the front face of the plate.
Figure 4 is a central sectional edge vlew of the plate and ing the plate as wearing apparel therein.
fingers.
Figure 5 IS a view partly in section showattached to an article of with a receptacle mounted Figure 6 is a top edge view showing the plate as attached to an article of wearing apparel and showing a receptacle as held between the resilient fingers of the plate.
Figure 7 is th e same as Figure 6, but
0. WETHERELL,
in the holder. 7 y p v vIn the present'day fashions of womens 1s no convenient place. for,
pockets in which to carry toilet article hold ers, such as vanity cases and the like, and,
therefore, it. has been found that the. most convenient position; in which to carry; a,-
small toilet-article holder such as a vanity case or the like, is on a garter where it is covered by the dress and yet is in position for easy access, and, therefore, I have provided a simple and effective holder for this toilet article and have provided means thereon whereby it may be readily attached to such an article of wearing apparel and have provided on the holder resilient means in which small articles such as a vanity case or the like, may be gripped and retained in position where it is readily accessible, and yet be in an inconspicuous position as it is covered by the dress of the wearer; and the following is a detailed description of the present embodiment of my invention and showing one means by which these advantageous results may be accomplished With reference to the drawings, 10 designates the body portion or base plate of the holder, which is preferably formed of sheet stock, a resilient arm member 11 being referably cut from the body of the stock within the margin thereof to form an opening in the plate and the arm is pressed backward from the plane of the rear face of the plate in position to be sliddown'over the upper edge of the garter 12, or other device to which it is to be attached to grip the fabric and force it into said opening to provide a more secure grip and at the same time lie closely against the inner surface of the fabric, taking up the minimum amount of space.
On the periphery of this plate and extending forwardly from the front edge thereof, I'have formed a pair of side fingers 13 bent upto form resilient clips or fingers between which a vanity box or other receptacle 14 may be ber is not limited to be carried on the garter but may be attached to any portion of the clothing of the wearer, such as a belt, or bracelet, or even to the pocket or other por- Lion of the clothing.
In some instances, it is found of advantage to direct the extremity or lips 16 of the finger l3 inwardly to extend over the outer edge of the receptacle so as to more firmly secure the receptacle in its holder.
The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claim.
A holder for a vanity case comprising a plate of sheet material, an arm struck out outwardly at substantially right anglesthereto and located at substantially the horizontal center and slightly thereabove, inturned lips on the ends of said fingers between which and' said plate a circular shaped vanity box may be snapped and gripped,
the upper peripheral edge of said plate be ing free from box engaging fingers and a port-ion extending outwardly from the bottom of said plate to serve as a stop to limit the movement of said box in being slid in a plane substantially parallel to said plate from the top thereof to a position under said S; V Y V In testimony whereof afiix my signature. v
