To all whom it may concern:
'Be-it known that I, NOAH LONG, a citizenof-the United States,y residing at Baileys Mills, in the county of Belmont and State of Ohio, haveinvented certain new and use- 'ful Improvements 4in Pelt-Stretchers, of

The 'improved device comprises a main continuous rod or central member having a push button 11 at one end and with a plurality of prongs or elt engaging points 12 atthe opposite en Attached to the ,member` 10 near 'the terminal 12 isa supp ort- -ing device adapted to pivotally or swingv inglyparry a' plurality of radius bars or arms, the latter' -inturn pivotally 01 swingingly connected tothe stretcher 'members The supporting device which is attached to the rod l() is shown formed of plates 13-11 having intermediate halfsockets in which .the member 10 is received. and to which the members 13-14 are rigidly secured, as by rivets 15. The pivoted arms above referred to -are represented at 16 andthe stretcher members at 17, the latter being preferably in attened U shape transversely as shown in Fig; 3, with theiradius bars 16 pivoted at one end, as shown at 18,'between the sides Athe members 13-11 and the push button melnber 11, are other plateszZO-Ql which are duplicates of the .plates 13- 14 except that they are not riveted or otherwise fastened to the shaft 10, but l'are slidable thereon. A plurality of the radius bars 16 are disposed in spaced relation and pivoted'at 22 between the sides offthe stretcher menibers 17 and likewise pivoted at 23 between the 'plates 20-21 and at opposite sides 'of the rodY 'The bars which are associated with the plates 20-21 and the stretcher members 17 operate to move the'streteher niembers outwardly away .from Vthe rod 10-when the plates Z0-21 with their-attached bars 16 are moved toward the button member 11, or the button member 11 moved towardv the members 20 21. By this arrangement the device may be so manipulated as 'to Vcause the parts to assume the lrelative position shown in Fig. 2, or at any intermediate point between vthe positions showirin Figs. 1 and 12'.

The rod 10 is then forced` longitudinally by pressure appliedto the button 11 and the plates 20-'-EZ1 moved toward the button or held 'stationary while the rod is forced between them. 'lhese movements will cause the radius bars lli to move toward a position at right-angles to the rod lll, or until the members l? stretch the pelt thereon` the.

'l'l1e` locking means comprises a plurality ol' notches 24' in spaced relation in the rod lll. and rigidly secured between the. adjacent portions of the plates 20-21 is a yieldable catch device having a tongue 26 adapted to engage in the. notches 24 one at a time. By this means when the rod 1.() is moved longitudinally of the members 20-21, or the members 20421 moved longitudinally ol" the rod, the members E25-2G will engage the adjacent notch and hold the rod in position relatively to the members 21-22, and corres|iondingly lock the stretcher members 1T in their distendcd position.

It is hereby certied that in Letters Patent No. 1,232,059, granted July :L 1917 upon the application of Noah Long, of Baileys Mills, Ohio, for au improvemenbm Pelt-Stretchers, an error i appears requiring correction as follows: In the grani, and in the heading to the printed specification the name of the assignee was erroneously written and printed as llE. A. Loing, Whereas said name should have been written and printed as E. A. Lynch, as shown by the record of assignments in thi office; and that the said Letters Patent should be read with this correction therein that the same may conform to the record of the case in the Patent Cee.
