Description

PATENT OFFr'cE ANDREW MOFALL, OF YONKERS, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT lN WASH-STANDS, CURTAIN-FRAMES, AND TOWEL-RACKS COMBINED.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,187, dated January 30, 1872.
with the accoinpanying drawing, hereinafter,
referred to, forms a full and exact specification of the saine, wherein I have set forth the nature and principles of my said improvement, by which my invention may be distinguished from others of a similar class, together with such parts as I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
My invention relates to household furniture 5 and the nature thereof consists in certain improvements in the fixtures of wash-stands, as hereinafter fully described.
In the accompanying drawing, which illustrates my invention and forms a part ot the specification thereof, in which correspondin g parts are illustra-ted by similar letters, Figure 1 is a perspective view from the rea-r of an ordinary wash-stand with my improvements applied thereto. Figs. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are detached views illustrating modications in the details of construction.
The construction, operation, and relative arrangement of the component parts of my invention are as follows:
In the drawing referred to, A A' are eyescrews secured to the back side of the stand, through which pass the lower cylindrical ends B B'. The said posts are connected together by the transverse rods G G'. The upper lrod C may be secured to the posts by a screw and nut, as shown in Fig. 4, or by bending the ends thereof at an angle and causing them to enter a diagonal slot, as shown in Fig. 7. Upon the said rod C is hung the curtain D, for the purpose of preventing water from being thrown against the wall. As the rod may be detached with facility, the curtain may be at any time removed for the purpose of washing., :c. .Between the eye-screws A A', and upon the lower cylindrical ends ofthe posts B B', are arranged the bars E, constituting the towel-rack. The said bars are ot' such an angular form as to exactly iit about the back' corners of the washstand, and may be revolved with facility about the spindle upon which they are arranged.
In Figs. 2 and 3 are illustrated modifications in the details of the construction and arrangement of the posts and towel-bars. In Fig. 2 the lower cylindrical end of the post is secured to the stand by means of screws, between the heads of which are arranged the bars E. In Fig. the spindle, about which the bars revolve, is above that portion of the post which is secured to the table.
Instead of the posts B B and cross-bars C C', iron rods, connected by an elbow-joint, may be. used, as shown in Figs. 5 and (i. In Fig. 5 an upright rod, attached to` the end of the stand, is made use of instead of the post B.
Having thus described the construction and operation of my invention, I will indicate what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent in the following clause, that is to say- The construction and arrangement of the posts B B', cross-bars G C', curtain D, bars E, eyescrews A A', and the wash-stand, when operating together as and for the purpose described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 22d day ot March, 18-.
ANDREW MCFALL.
