DAVID DAVIS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED STOVE AND ARTICLE-SUPPORT.
Application filed. July 10, 1915, Serial No. 39,115.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID DAVIS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Combined Stove and Article-Support, of which the following is a full,,clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to combination heating devices and means for holding articles thereover, and has for an object the provision of an improved arrangement designed to be mounted upon a burner in such manner thatthe burner may be applied and removed whenever desired.
Another object in view is to provide a stove structure using kerosene in connection with a support having a guard rail for holding articles in place on the support.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a side view of an embodiment of the invention;
Fig. 2 is a section through Fig. 1 on line 2-2- Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the article carrier or support;
Fig. 4. is a detail fragmentary sectional view through Fig. 2 on line 14:.
In constructing the various attachments and article supporting members to accompany the original stove, various forms may be provided without departing from the spirit of the invention. For instance, in Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive, a form is provided in which one stove is utilized for supporting a plurality of articles and holding the same in place by rings.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 indicates a base which may be provided with suitable legs 2 having apertures therein so that the base may be secured to the floor or other support. The base 1 is provided with a plurality of notches 3 in which slots'al are arranged. Each of the slots 4 is provided with an enlarged opening 5. This form of slot and opening is provided in order that the legs 6 of the stove 7 may be inserted through the openings 5 and then turned to the position shown in Fig. 2 for properly supporting the stove 7 on base 1. From Fig. 1 it will be noted that a tank 8 of stove 7 rests upon the flange 9 of base 1 while the various legs 6 extend through the apertures 4 and are locked in place by one or more locking screws 10. Each of the legs 6 is Patented June 26, 1917.
Renewed May 16, 1917. Serial No. 169,114.
provided with an enlargement 11 which will prevent any upward movement of the stove 7. Stove 7 is a well known stove now on the market and is provided with the tank 8 for receiving kerosene, an air pump 12, an inlet 13 and an air vent 141. The inlet 13 has a cap 15 which when in place presents an airtight cover, while vent 11 may be opened and closed as desired, the same being, in fact, an air valve. When vent 1 1 is closed and pump 12 is operated, air will be forced into the tank 8 and kerosene will be forced upwardly through pipe 16 to the generator 17. The generator 17 is provided with a plurality of pipes 18 and one or more clownwardly extending pipes 19 which may be provided with a jet for forcing the vaporized kerosene and air into theburner 20. The flame from the burner 20 keeps the generator 17 heated and provides a blaze for heating the article support 21 and anything arranged thereon.
It is to be noted that the detail construction of the generator 17 and also the detail construction of any part of the stove 7 form no part of the present invention except in combination with the attachments connected with said stove. The legs 6 extend upwardly and form supporting arms 22, each of which is provided with a bent-over horizontal portion 23. The portions 23 fit into radially extending grooved members 24: provided on the support 21. The support 21 is also provided with lugs 25 through which a post 26 extends. A suitable nut 27 clamps each of the posts in position. The upper end of the post is pro-vided with a threaded bore which receives the clamping screw 28, which clamping screw passes through a guard ring 0 i 29. There are shown in the drawing three posts 26 and associated parts, but it will be evident that a greater or even a less number could be used without departing from the spirit of the invention. Arranged within the ring 29 are a plurality of receptacles 30 of any desired construction. Each of these receptacles is provided with an car 31 into which a lifter 32 may be inserted when applying or removing the receptacle. It will be evident that the base 1 when secured in place on a support or left standing without eing secured presents not only a support for the stove 7 but means for holding the stove properly in position and against upsetting. It is evident that the base 1 may be quickly and easily removed at any time.
This is also true of the support 21, which is merely loosely mounted in position, but by reason of the fact that the horizontal portions 28 of arms 22 rest in the grooves or lugs Qet, an accidental removal cannot take place.
What I claim is:
1. In a device of the character described, a complete stove structure provided with legs having an enlargement at the end and a base for supporting said stove structure, said base being formed with a plurality of notches and a slot arranged adjacent each notch, said slots being provided with a large portion and a narrow portion whereby said legs may be passed through said large portion and turned into the narrow portion, and means on the base for locking said legs against a return movement.
2. In a device of the character described, a stove provided with a plurality of legs formed with enlarged feet, said legs mergmoved, and a supporting member arranged on top of said upstanding arms, said sup porting member being provided with pairs of depending members producing grooves in which the horizontal portion of said arms are fitted.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
, DAVID DAVIS.
