To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JACOB D. ROMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Vernon, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Back Collar-Button and Necktie- Holder, of which the following is a specification. 7

This invention relates vto tie holders, and more particularly to a holder specially adapted for use in connection with collars of the turn-over type, and which is combined with a back collar button.

One of the main objects of the invention is to provide a'holder of simple construction and operation which can be quickly and easily applied to a collar. A further object is to provide a holder which will remain, at all times, in' proper position. Further objects will appear from the detailed.

I am aware of the fact that various holders have been proposed for use with collars but, so far as I am aware, none of these holders have proved practical. One of the chief objections to the holders now in use is that they easily become displaced so as to be worse than useless. I avoid this difficulty by providing prongs or grasping hooks which engage the collar band of the shirt so as to secure the holder in upright position.

In constructing my holder I first stamp a blank out of sheet metal. I bend this blank to form a body 1, having a hook 2 at its .lower end and a similar hook 3 at its upper end. These two hooks are directed oppositely. so as to provide a guide and a holder for a necktie. The upper portion of the blank is then bent back on itself to form an intermediate member 4:- This member is bent inward, at its lower end, to form a slanting web member 5. The web member 5 is integral with a shank 6 which is spaced from and parallel with an integral inner Specification of Letters Patent.

The tongue 7 is provided, near its lower end, with two spaced inwardly projecting hooks or prongs 10. These hooks are formed integrally with the tongue by stamping them from the same end bending the tongue formed by this'stamping into proper shape.

In using my device, the body 1 and hook 3, are inserted through the button hole 11 through the inner fold 12 at the back of the collar, and are moved upward toward the top of collar, the inner fold of the collar passing between the shank 6 and tongue 7 The lower hook 2 is then inserted through the button hole of the collar and the whole device then moved downward so as to oc cupy the position shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. In this position, the curved prongs 10 engage under the lower edge of the flap which is commonly provided at the back of the collar band of the shirt. This brings the socket 8 in proper position to receive the head of a collar button inserted through the button hole at the back of the shirt band. This firmly secures the upright 1 in a vertical position between the folds l2 and 13 of the collar. The hooks 2 and 3 engage the tie so as to prevent the same from slipping from between the folds of the collar. The hooks also cooperate with the standard 1 to provide means whereby the tie may be easily drawn between the folds of the collar, as desired.

It is to be noted that the height of the shank 6 is slightly greater than the vertical distance from the top of the shank to the hook 2. As a result of this, the space between the tongue 7 and shank 6 is of proper depth to permit suiflcient upward movement of the device, after the insertion of the top hook 3, to bring the lower hook 2 opposite the buttonhole of the collar so as to render the quick and easy insertion of this member between the folds of the collar possible.

What I claim is 1. 3. A combined back collar button and neclotie holder comprising the combination of a body clamped upon itself to form spaced hooks directed toward one another to receive the neck-tie, said body having a portion extended in an inclined direction and a tongue formed upon the lower end of said inclined portion by bending the body upon itself, a hook upon the lower edge of said tongue, and a button receiving member at the upper end of said tongue.

A. combined back collar button and neck-tie holder formed from a continuous strip of sheet metal bent to provide a body portion having spaced neck-tie holding hooks directed toward one another and spaced from one side of the body, the strip having a portion directed downwardly and outwardly from the opposite side of the body, said strip being bent upon itself to provide a tongue at the lower end of the in clined portion of said strip, a hook formed at the lower end of said tongue, and a but ton receiving member formed on the upper end of said tongue.
