* 0 UNITED STATES PATENT QFFIGEO DAVID O. LAWS, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
IMPROVEMENT IN WINE AND WATER COOLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,028, dated January 23, 1872; antedated January 8, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID O. LAWS, of Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented a new and Improved Combined Refrigerator and Water and Wine Cooler; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being hadto the accompanying drawing making a part of this specification, in Which- Figure l is a transverse sectional elevation, and Fig. 2 is a transverse horizontal section.
This invention relates to a revolving refrigerator divided into separate compartments, which have no intercommunication, and having a central cylindrical chamber for holding ice, and two chambers communicating therewith, one at the top for holding wine-bottles, and the other at the bottom for holding drinking Water.
Referring to the drawing, a is a standard on which the refrigerator rests, said standard having a spindle, b, at its top, on which is slipped the bottom 0 of the refrigerator by means of a central hole in the latter. d d are air-chambers 0, top of the same and the bottom of the refrigerator proper e, the central tube for holding ice; f, the partitions radiating from said central tube, and placed between the bottom plate 0 and the top plate g; h, the doors of the separate compartments i,- 7', the
top of the upper chamber is; l, the door to said upper chamber; on, the top of the tube 6, extending up into said upper chamber so far that when bottles of wine are placed in the latter and ice packed between them none of the dirt connected with the bottles or ice can find its way into the tube 0. n is a waste-pipe for ice drippings from the upper chamber; 0, a cock for drawing water from the tube 0. The ice keeps the chambersi and d cool. The partitions f prevent difi'erent articles of food from imparting their flavors to each other. The refrigerator being a whirling one, the different chambers can be reached without traveling around it.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In the refrigerator arranged to revolve on the spindle b rising from the standard a, the combination of the central tube 0, communieating chamber is, and surrounding non-communicating chamber 5, all as shown and described.
To the above specification of my invention I have signed my hand this 14th day of June, A. D. 1871.
DAVID O. LAWS.
