Be it known that 1, Answers J. Lnoon'ran,

a citizen ofthe United States, residing at' "Worcester, in the county of 'Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented cercorsets, and particularly to that type of corsets'which have a shield or tongue back of the lacing, to cover the space or opening, be tween the two sections laced together.

Theobject of my invention is to provide an improved shield or tongue for corsets of the type above referred to;

My invention consists in certain novel features of construction of -my improved shield or tongue.

In myimprovements I provide a shield or tongue, which is attached at its upper end to the upper edge of the corset, preferably by 1 stitching, and is attached at its lower end to two of the loop hosesupporters.

The

shield or tongue extends'back of the lacing oil the corset, and entirely free from the corset and not attached thereto, except at its uppeztedga as will be hereinafter described.

I have shown my improvements in shield or tongue fo corsets combined with the front sections of a front laced corset, but my improvements may beequally well combined with the rear sections of a back laced corset by being stitched and thus permanently attached to the tops of the corset sections or parts.

It'will be understood that the details of construction of my improvements may be varied if desired.
