To all whom may concern.'

Be it known that l, DANIEL H. CALDE- Mnrnn, a. citizen of the United States, residing at Evansville, county of Vanderburg, and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to display racks.

The present invention has for its object the provision of a simple, durable, neat and inexpensive display rack of improved construction, adapted to be disposed horizontally, for suspending mops, or other handled articles, in convenient position for inspection and ready removal and compactly arrangedrfree from the fioor and from interference with other articles of merchandise.

The invention is set forth fully hereinafter and the novel features thereof recited in the appended claims.

Fig. IH, a partial cross section through one of the clamping blocks.

The rack body comprises upper and lower wooden boards or metal plates F, Gr and an intermediate plate D, secured together in any manner, as by screws or other fastenings. A bracket, or any well-known means, may be employed for securing the rac-k in horizontal position from the wall, or other object.

rEhe boards or plates F, D, G, have as many alined holes A as desired so that several mops, or other handled articles may he independently suspended. The holes are arranged in pairs crosswise of the rack.

The board D has square or rectangular openings H arranged in pairs and joined by a narrow opening in which is located a coil spring C whose ends bear on, and which actuates, the clamping blocks B, in opposite directions. The blocks B are located in openings H and are guided by the walls thereof, the walls E of said openings limiting the travel of the blocks to a partial projection thereof into the openings A.

As shown in Fig. IH the lower corner of the projected edge of each block B is rounded to facilitate entry of the mop handle into the lower part of the opening when inserting it therein for clamping by the block.

The tension of the spring C is suilicient to hold the blocks B projected into the openings A with suficient force to cause them to firmly clamp the mop handles against the margins of the openings A and frictionally hold them suspended from the rack.

Openings H, a spring C and blocks B are provided for each pair of openings A.

The upper and lower boards or plates F, G, hold the blocks and springs in position in their openings.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A display rack comprising three members arranged in sunernesed relation having a handle-receiving opening therethrough, the intermediate member being provided with a guiding or cut-out portion, a clamping` block movable in, and whose edges are guided by, said cut-out portion, the outermost members serving as guides for the faces of said block, a spring for projecting the block into the opening Erst-named, and means for limiting the projected movement of said block.

2. A display raclr comprising three members arranged in superposed relation having a pair of handle-receiving openings therethrough, the intermediate member being provided with a pair of connected guiding or cut-out portions which intersect the openings aforesaid, clamping blocks movable in, and whose edges areguided by, said cut-out portions, the outermost members serving as guides for the faces of said blocks, and a spring interposed between said blocks and serving as a common means for projecting them. l j
