My invention relates to Athat class of hat-racks for use in public and private buildings; and the nature of the improvement consists in the detail construction of the several parts, whereby the same describes a circle when un folded for use, and folded into a small space when not in use, the Whole of which will be more fully understood from the following description In the drawing, A represents a series of sections, which are each composed of two slats C and C', and pivoted together at their outer ends by means of apin, E, passingtransversely through the same. The said pins are provided with a shoulder, a, which bears against the front surface of the slat C, as shown in Fig. 3. The portion thereof passing through the said slat is made Y smooth, and is looselyT iittedtherein, and is screwthreaded at its outer end, and which engages a corresponding screw-thread formed in the aperture of slat C', whereby the two slats are firmly connected, and in such a manner as to form a hinge or point at their outer extremities. The said slat C of each section is pivoted to slat C of the adjacent section, by a screw-threaded pin, E', passing through the same, as shown in` Fig. 1, and is also pivoted at its inner end to slat G of each alternate section by an Ordinary screw passing through' the same, thereby connecting the whole, so that when adjusted the respective seotions are so arranged as to form a frame or rack describing a circle. of suitable length to admit of Vhanging thereon hats and other articles of wearing apparel. F is an annular frame, within which is secured a looking-glass, F. The said frame is provided upon its back with a shoulder, so arranged as to come in contactwith the ends of slats C and G when in position. fra-nie is a cleat, G, which projects outward beyond the outer side of the frame, and is so arranged as to come in contact with and bear against the back of the inner ends of opposite sections A, as shown by dotted lines, Fig. l, thereby holding the same irmly in position.
In using my improved hat-rack it is suspended from the wall by any suitable means. The hatrack, when not in use, may be folded, as shown in Fig. 2, occupying but litt-1e space, and is accomplished by removing one of the pins E and the screw connecting the inner ends ofthe slats G and C.
It will be noticed that the pins E and E' are each screw-threaded at the end, which is to allow the slats being readily taken apart, and so as to be packed in a small space for transportation.
By the construction and arrangement of my said improved hat-rack is provided an article which is cheap, convenient, ornamental, and durable, and easily adjusted.
Having thus described the nature and object of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A circular folding hat-rack, composed of slats C and C connectedby screw-threaded pins E and E', the whole arranged substantially in the manner and for the purpose described.
2. In combination with a circular folding hatrack, as described, the frame F provided with a looking-glass, F', all arranged substantially as and for the purpose described.
