Description

A. E. ZABRISKIE.
HOSE SUPPGRTER.
'APPLICATION FILED APR.7,1915.

HOSE-SUPPORTER.
Application filed April 7, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ANN E. ZABRISKIE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, haveinvented new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in hose supporters and has particular reference to corset hose supporters.
The present day hose supporter of the above mentioned character consists of a plurality of straps suspended from the corset and carrying clasps adapted toengage the stocking. The straps are used for the additional function of holdingthe corset down in the desired position, and are consequently provided with an adjustment. When the straps are drawn taut for this purpose undue strain is placed upon the stocking with a resultant tearing of the latter. It is even found necessary to dispose of the stocking on this account, while 1 dition.
Therefore it is the object of this invention to provide a corset hose supporter which can be easily and conveniently secured to the hose, and adjusted to hold the corset in proper position without subjecting the hose to any undue strain, as this strain is borne by the supporter, which is also constructed Ito permit of the natural movements of the More specifically stated the invention embodies an elastic strap secured to the corset, and from which are suspended separate inelastic strips between which the unper edge of the stocking is secured by means of a pin passed through all of the parts, whereby the strain or pull resultant from the movements of the limb is borne by said inelastic strips and is not conveyed to the stockin thereby reducingto a minimum the possibility of tearing the same under the above mentioned conditions.
In carrying out the invention the pin employed for securing the stocking is as sociated with an elastic tape arranged above one of the inelastic strips, so that when the stocking is secured between the inelastic strips, the latter are normally held slack through the instrumentality of the elastic the major portion of the same is in good contape, while the latter gives with the movements of the limb and is limited in its ad Specification of Letters Patent.

tion residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this specification like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the preferred form of the invention showing the supporter associated with the stocking.
Fig. 2 is an elevation of the supporter re moved.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the inelastic strips separated to receive the stocklng.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 1.
The supporter forming the subject matter of my invention, as shown in this particular instance consists of an elastic strap 10 adapted to be secured to the corset in any suitable manner, having an adjustable loop 11 at its lower end, which supports a metallic loop 12. Suspended from the strap 10 and associated therewith through the instrumentality of the metallic loop 12 is an inelastic strip threaded through the metallic loop 12 to provide separated branches 13 and 14 respectively of relatively different lengths. These branches are secured together by stitching as at 15 immediately adjacent the metallic loop 12. Superimposed above the relatively short branch 13, and extending throughout the major portion of the length of'the latter, is an elastic tape 16 having its upper end threaded through the metallic loop 12 and secured to the separated branches of the inelastic strip by means of the stitching 15, while the opposite end of the tape is free and formed with a pocket or casing 17 for the reception of the. relatively fixed limb of a safety pin 18, thereby supporting the latter in horizontal position.
In practice the upper edge of the stocking 19 is positioned between the branches 13 and 14 of the inelastic strip, after which the relatively movable limb 20 of the safety pin is passed through either of the spaced pairs of eyelets 21, and also through the stocking and the branch 14, and subsequently arranged in its keeper. With the parts thus associated the elastic tape 16 serves to hold to limit the adjustment or give of the elastic tape and constitute the parts that are subjected to the strain incident to the movements of the limb without transmitting any appreciable amount of this strain .to the stocking, thereby reducing to a minimum the possibility of injuring the stocking under such conditions. The branch 13 of the inelastic strip is provided with a button hole 22 adjacent its lower end which is adapted to receive the button 23 secured to the elastic tape as shown, subsequent to the folding of the lower edge of the elastic tape 13 upon itself with a view of concealing the pin or other fastening device employed for securing the stocking to the supporter.
What is claimed is 1. A hose supporter of the character described comprising an elastic strap .having an adjustable loop .at one end, an inelastic strip suspended from the strap and having separated branches adapted to receivethe upper edge of the hose therebetween, an elastic tape associatedwith said strip and arranged longitudinally of one of said branches, said branch having spaced pairs of eyelets, and a safety pin carried by said tape and adapted to be passed through said eyelets, the hose, and the other of said branches to hold said parts associated, and to relieve the hose of undue strain incident to the movements of the limb.
2. A hose supporter of the character described comprising ,an elastic strap having an adjustable loop at one end, an inelastic strip suspended from the loop and having separated branches adapted to receive the upper edge vof the hose therebetween, an elastic tape associated with said strip and arranged longitudinally of one of said branches, said branch having spaced pairs of eyelets, a safety pin carried by said tape and adapted to bepassed through said eyelets, the hose, and the other of said branches to hold said parts associated and to relieve the hose of nnduestrain incident to the movev.ments of the limb, and the free edge of the first mentioned branch being foldable upon itself and detachablysecured to the adjacent end of the tape to conceal .said pin.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
