GO-CART STORM-APRON.
Application filed February 21, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDITH M. NAGLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gibson City, in the county of Ford, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Go-Cart Storm- Aprons, and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable Others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to improvements in storm aprons for go-carts for children, and has for its object to so construct an article of this character that it can be readily engaged with a go-cart and will protect the child in inclement weather.
A further object of the invention is to provide an article of this character which can be made from a single blank of material, the blank being so formed that the sections thereof can be conveniently sewed to provide av suflicient covering for the feet of a child. as well as the body.
Vith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front view of a go-cart, equipped with the device.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the apron.
Fig. 4.- is a plan view of the blank.
The device consists of a bottom 1 which is adapted to be engaged with the foot board of the gocart. 2, said bottom having formed integral with its ends sides 3, while the forward end of the bottom 1 has formed integral therewith a front 4 which terminates in a body cover 5.
The rear edge of the bottom 1 terminates Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 79,724.
in a back 6, said back and front 4 having their side edges sewed or otherwise suitably secured to the adjacent edges of the sides 3, thus providing a compartment 7 for the child s feet.
The back 6 terminates at its upper edge in an integral flap 8, which is adapted to be placed on the seat 9 of the go-cart, said flap having its rear corners provided with hooks 10. The hooks 10 serve to attach the flap 8 to the frame of the go-cart, thereby preventing the device from slipping.
The device is preferably made from waterproof material and may be of any color which may suit the fancy of the purchaser.
In use the device is placed with the bottom 1 thereof engaged upon the foot board of the go-cart, and the flap 8 engaged with the seat of the cart, whereby when a child is in the go-cart, his feet will rest in the compartment 7 and the body cover can be tucked around the child so as to exclude dampness.
At the juncture of the front 4 and cover 5 are attached snap hooks 11, similar hooks 12 being connected to the rear edge of said cover, said hooks being adapted to engage adjacent parts of the cart to hold the device in place.
.Vhat is claimed is A. storm apron of the class described com prising a bottom, sides, front and back, said sides, front and back having their adjacent edges connected, a flap carried by the back for engaging the seat of a go-cart only, a body cover connected to the front, securing devices carried by the front, body cover and flap for detachably engaging the go-cart.
In testimony whereof, I aiiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
EDITH M. NAGLE.
Witnesses:
