COMBINED POWDER-PUNCH AND BLASTING-FUSE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL JAMES WATTS, a subject of Great Britain, residing at Iron River, in the county of Iron and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Powderlunches and Blasting-Fuse Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to powder punch and blasting fuse holders.
The object of my invention is to provide a combined powder punch and blasting fuse holder, and it is my purpose in providing this combination to supply a safety powder punch and also a fuse holder designed to hold av larger number of fuses than has heretofore been found practical.
As a combined powder punch and fuse holder my invention is valuable for general use in blasting and is particularly valuable as a fuse holder for use in blasting in underground drifts where a number of fuses are to be held.
My invention chiefly consists in providing a device of the character described of a metal rod doubled upon itself to form a loop terminating in two parallel arms one of which is comparatively short and serving as a holder or core for entering one end of a tube, while the other arm of the device is much longer and terminates in a point and serves as powder punch.
My invention further consists in the parts and combination of parts as hereinafter pointed out and set forth in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof Figure 1 is a plan view showing my invention in use, the dotted lines showing the fuses held in place. Fig. 2 ,is a plan View showing the rod shaped to form the punch, and the companion arm which forms a core for entering the end of a tube;

In Fig. 1 of the drawing I have shown in dotted lines the fuses 0 held in place between the arm a and tube B. It is evident that by shaping the rod A in the form shown I provide a handle for the device and also provide adequate flexibility to the arm (1' whereby the tube B is caused to exert a resilient pressure upon the fuses and hold them in place between the tube and arm a. It is also evident that by providing a tapering tube I afford means for equalizing its pressure upon the fuses.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A fuse holder consisting of a rod bent to form two arms of unequal length and spaced apart in parallel relation, and a de' tachable member mounted on the shorter arm and adapted to form a continuation of said arm and arranged in like parallel relation with the longer arm.
2. A fuse holder consisting of a rod bent to form a hand-hold and also two arms of unequal length spaced apart in parallel relation and a detachable member. mounted on the shorter arm adapted to form a continuation of said arm and arranged in like parallel relation with the longer arm.
3. A device of the character described consisting of a rod doubled upon itself terminating in parallel arms of unequal length and relatively flexible, the longer arm adapted for a powder punch, in combination with a tapering tube detachably mounted on the shorter arm.
