tacles, and is more particularly directed to' the provision of a distributing closure for the mouth of mucilage or like receptacles,.
whereby fluid may be distributed therefrom as desired without the use of the usual brush members commonly associated with mucilage receptacles.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a closure of the class described which may be detachably connected with a receptacle to permit refilling of the receptacle as desired, and which includes a detachable shield portion whereby the distributing member of the closure may be protected particularly when shipping the receptacle, to prevent any possible leakage therefrom.
It is further an object to provlde a closure of the class described which combines efficiency and durability in use with an eX- ceedingly simple construction, whereby the device may be manufactured and associated with a mucilage or other container at a minimum cost.
With the above and other objects and advantages in view, the invention resides more particularly in the novel combination and arrangement of parts more particularly hereinafter described and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings:
The figure illustrates the improved distributing closure applied to the neck of a mucilage receptacle with various portions broken away to more clearly disclose the structure.
Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawings, 5 designates a mucilage bottle of general construction having an externally threaded neck 6. The improved closure comprises an attaching cap member 7 having its wall portion threaded for engagement on the neck of the follower,
and being provided with a central aperture surrounded by an outstanding annular flange 8 about which is fitted the mouth end of distributing hood 9 which is formed of resilient material such as rubber and which is provided in its closed end with a plurality of slits 1 0 radiating from a common central web portion. The hood is securely held on the flange 8 by a retaining band 11 surrounding the mouth portion of the hood, and adjacent portions of the bar and flange are provided with outwardly struck interlocking projections 12.
To house the attaching cap member and its distributing hood in such manner as to prevent possible distortion of the hood to procure accidental leakage of the fluid, a cover cap member or hood 13 is provided which is adapted to fit about the threaded wall portion of the attaching cap 7, the threads of the cap wall aflording a proper frictional grip without binding and if clesired portions of the wall may be milled.
The foregoing structure comprises an exceedingly simple distributing device which eliminates the necessity of the usual brushes associated with mucilage containers and the protection afforded by the cover cap member 13, is particularly valuable during shipping of the device inasmuch as a common disadvantage encountered with mucilage distributing closures is the liability of leakage during shipment. It is also noted that upon unscrewing the attaching cap the receptacle may be readily refilled as desired.
What is claimed is:
1. A distributing closure for receptacles comprising an attaching cap member provided with a central aperture, a flexible slitted distributing hood associated with said aperture and a cover cap member connected with the attaching cap to shield the said hood.
2. A distributing closure forreceptacles comprising an attaching cap member provided with a central aperture, an outstanding annular flange surrounding said aperture, a flexible slitted distributing hood having its mouth portion fitted about said flange and a retaining band disposed about said mouth portion for securing it to the flange.
3. A distributing closure for receptacles comprising an attaching body cap member adapted for threaded engagement with the central aperture, an outstanding annular I have hereunto set my hand at Two Rivers, flange surrounding said aperture, a flexible 1n the county of Manitowoc and State 0i shtted dlstrlbuteihood secured to the flange Vihsconsm, 111 the presence of two Witnesses.
