To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILSON BROWN and JosnrH B. MEADOR, citizens of the United States, residing at Mounds, in the county of reek and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Valves; and we do hereby declarethe following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains'to make and use the same. a
This invention relates to valves, and the primary object of the invention is to provide a valve which embodies a multiple set of outlets which are adapted for alternate communication with the inlets.
Another object of this invention is to provide a valve structure as specified, which embodies a valve casing having an inlet opening positioned adjacent the lower end thereof, a rotatable valve core positioned interiorly of the valve casing and having an opening extending longitudinally therethrough, which has communication with a transversely extending opening provided for communication with the inlets, and a second transversely extending opening provided for communication with any one-of the multiple outlet openings, and further to provide means for holding the valve core in adjusted positions, for preventing the accidental rotation of the core, and also for facilitating the proper positioning of the core for providing communication between 1011c inlet and any one of the multiple outets.
From the foregoing and other objects in view this invention consists in such novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and claimed.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters designate like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a top plan view of the improved valve,

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 designates a valve casing, which is on the line comparatively heavy in construction, and is provided with a central vertically extending bore 2 formed therein, which bore is greater in diameter at the upper terminal thereof, than at the lower terminal. The bore 2 has a rotatable core 3 mounted therein, which fits snugly against the inner wall of the bore 2, and has an upstanding lug -1 formed upon its upper end. The lug 4 projects above the top of the casing 1, and has a lever 5 connected thereto, by means of a bolt 6,'where-- by the valve core 3 may be rotated by the horizontal oscillatory movement of the lever 5.
A gasket 7 is mounted upon the upper end of the valve casing 1 and is held in place by a washer 8, through which Washer extend stud bolts or other analogous fastening devices 9, for holding the disk and the gasket in secure fluidtight engagement with the upper end of the valve casing.
The washer 8 has an upstanding projection 10 formed upon one section thereof, which projection is provided with a plurality of notches 11' formed in the upper edges there of. The notches 11 are-provided for receiving the lower end 12 of a catch lever 13. The catch lever 13 is pivotally connected to the lever 5, by means of an upstanding yoke 14, and it' has a helical spring 15 positioned between the under surface of the handle end thereof, and the upper surface of the lever 5,-for holding the catch lever 13 in a notch engaging position. The valve casing 1 is provided with a transversely extending opening 16 formed in one side thereof, a short distance upwardly from the bottom of the casing, which opening has communication with an inlet pipe 17. The casing 1 is also provided with a plurality of horizontally disposed radially extending openings 18 formed therein, a short distance downwardly from the upper end of the casing, and diametrically opposite to-the opening 16. The openings 18 communicate with outlet pipes 19, each opening communicating with a separate pipe, as is clearly shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings.
The core 3 is provided with a longitudinally extending opening 20, and transversely extending openings 21 and 22, which communicate with the upper and lower ends of the opening 20. The opening 21 is provided for communication with the opening 16, while the opening 22 is provided for communication with any one of the openings 18, for permitting of the passage of fluid from the inlet pipe 17 into and through the valve into any one of the outlet pipes 19, this being regulated by the positioning of the valve core 3 and the operation of the lever 5. The notches 11 which are formed in the upstanding projection 10, correspond with the various openings 18, so that when the lever 5 is moved into any one of the notches 11, the passageway between the inlet pipe 17 and the pipe 19 corresponding to the position of the lever is open, and a communication is established between the pipes 19 and 17 to permit of the How of the liquid therethrough. Y I y y In the drawings, three ducts or openings 18 have been shown,but it is to be understood that any desired number of ducts may be. employed, without departing from the spirit of this invention.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings the advantages of construction and of the method of operation of the improved valve will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains and, while in the foregoing description, the principle of-the operation of this invention has been describedtogether with various features of construction, it is to be understood that certain minor features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be altered to suit practical con ditions provided such alterations are comprehended within the scope of What is claimed.
What is claimed is In a valve structure, a valve casing having a ,valve chamber provided with a tapering valve seat, said casing having an inlet opening extending transversely through the Wall thereof and communicating at its inner end with the chamber, said casing also having a plurality of radially arranged outlet openings extending transversely through the wall at points from opposite the inlet opening, said outlet openings located near the upper end of the casing and the inlet near the lower end thereof, a tapered valve having a reduced upper end rotatabl-y seated in said chamber and having a longitudinally extending passage centrally therein, said valve being provided with transversely eX- tending passages communicating at their inner ends with the upper and lower ends of said longitudinal passage respectively, their outer ends communicating respectively with theinlet opening and any one of the radially arranged outlet openings, a lever secured at one end to the reduced end of said valve for rotating the same, for registering the transverse passages with the inlet and any one of the outlet openings, a disk carried by said casing and surrounding said valve, an upstanding projection formed on said disk and provided with notches in its upper face, a catch lever carried by the first named, lever, said catch lever adapted to engage the notches in the projection to hold said valve in any desired position and against accidental rotation.
