Another object is to provide a device of this character in which the guard and razor blade can be quickly and-easily attached to or removed from the holder.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is an elevation of my improved safety razor,
Fig. 2 is an elevationfrom the opposite side of that of Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is an edge view,
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1,
Fig. 5 is an enlarged fragmentary view on the line 55 of Fig. 4, and
Fig. 6 is a section on the line 66 of Fig. 4
Referring particularly to the accompan ing drawing, 10 represents the guard which consists of an elongated metallic plate having the curved teeth11 formed on each of its longitudinal sides. A holder 12 is provided with a shank 13 adapted to be screwed into a hand grip 14. The outer portion of the holder is provided with a flat face-15 against which the guard 10 is placed. On the inner end of the holder, and extending longitudinally in spaced re tion to the flat face thereof is a lip 16. etween this lip and the flat face is formed a lug 17 of a therein, said end being disposed between the lip and the flat face of the holder. On the Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Feb, 27 1917. Application filed July 20, 1915.- Serial No. 40,971.
opposite face, and on the outer end of the holder isformeda recess 19, the inner wall v of which-inclines inwardly toward the flat face as shown at 2O. The adjacent end .of the guard is formed with a tongue 21 bent rearwardly and engaged over the end of the holder and in'thenotch 19. Therazor,
blade 22 is disposed between the guard and the flat face of the holder, and has in one end a notch 23 which also receives the lug 17, while in the other end there is formed a notch 24 receiving a ortion of the tongue 21 vtherethrough. t will be noted that the free end of ,the tongue inholder, while the tongue alone prevents longitudinal movement accidentally.
What is claimed is:
1. A safety razor comprising a handle an extension on the handle provided wit a longitudinal lip near the base thereof, a lug formed between the lip and extension, a razor blade havingnotches in its opposite ends, one end of said blade. being disposed between the lip and extension with the notch receiving the said lug, the outer end of the extension having an inwardly inclined recess, and. a guard having a notch in one end receiving the said lug and a resilient tongue on the opposite end thereof for engagement in said recess.
2. A safety razor comprising a stem having a flat face, a longitudinal lip formed onthe inner end thereof and spaced from the flat face, a lug between the lip "and flat face, a razor blade disposed against the flat face with one end between the lip and flat face, a guard disposed against the blade with one end between the lip and flat face, said ends of the guard and blade being formed with registering notches receiving said lug, the
other end of the stem having a recess in its other face, the inner wall of said recess inclining inward longitudinally and a resilient tongue carried by the outer end of I the glierd for embracing the enter end of ing efiat face, a, longitudinal lip formed on the inneriend thereof and spaced from and overhanging the fiat face, a lug between the lip and flat face, a razor blade disposed against the flatfece with one end'between the lip and flat me, 21, guard disposed against the blade with one end between the. lip and fiat face, Saidends of theguerd and blade being formed with-registering nctchw receiving said lug, the remaining end" ntthe' stem being provided with a notch regietering with the notches in the guard and gt in said Q its inner wellinc blade and having 41 recess m inwardly from the notch; seid rs having V n dowerdiy from the notch to ardfithehmy of-the stem, and e resilient tongue carried bythe outer end ef the guard and hevingiits end inciined'downwerdly, said tongue being ant/ed te engage the enter end. of the blade and to lie inseidr'ecess.
