of the city of Att-leborog in the'county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Bracelet-Links; of which the following is a specification;
This invention relates to bracelets-of the extension type, and the Object'of this invention is to provide a bracelet of this class comprising a plurality of compound links constructed of both guide members andslide .members, and an attaching" hook being formed'on' the guide" member ofone or more of the links to facilitate their attachment to a watch or other ornament.
A iu'rth'erobj ect of this invention is thatthe guide link to which the hook is attached is alsoprovided with a slide link liketherest'of the links so as to lend to the bracelet the amount of exp ansion.
A further object" of the inventionis the forming of the hook'portion from the stock of the bridge element and makingthe hook of double'strengthand stiffness by folding this stock over upon itself.
The invention further consists informing a hook on the guide links at opposite ends of the bracelet and connecting together the adj acent ends of two of the slide links.
The invention still further consists in the provision of a springt'onguef for closing the iimouth of-thehook, one end'o'fs'aid tongue being fixed to its link and its opposite end bent to extendinto andbe' guided in the sp ace between said guide link members. U
With these and other objects in view, the
int ention consists-of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully de scribed, and particularly pointed out inthe appended claims.

its-opposite end closingthe mouth or open the two end links in the bracelet 13, each of whichlinks is provided with a hook shaped member 14 whereby the bracelet ends may be readily attached to a watch 15 or other ornament.
The primary object of this invention is the provision oi'a guide link towhich is attached'the hook member 14:, said guide link being so constructed as to also permit a slide link 16 to work in the space between its side members 17. These side members may be formed in any suitableway and connected together at their ends by any suitable form of bridge members 20. In this particular instance, however, I' have'provided an integralportion of the stock as at 19 serving as a bridge element for connecting together one end of the side members. This integral stock extends forwardly as at 18 and is oia length sufficient to be bent into the form of bers are rigidly secured together in the man-' ner fully illustrated in my Patent No.
1,166,821. When these side members asillustrated in Fig. 3, are folded over upon each 1 other as illustrated in Fig. 4c, the opposite edges 28 of the stock of this hook portion 18 are also folded over to abut against each other as shown in this figure, thus greatly stiffening and strengthening the hook which is then formed by bending the same around into the position illustrated in Figs. 5 and 9.
It is found in practice necessary to provide a spring tongue for closing the mouth 24. or opening of the hook to prevent the link frombecoming accidentally unhooked. To accomplish this in a simple and eflective way, I have provided a spring tongue 25 which is provided at one end with dovetail shaped notches 26 into which are fitted correspondingly shaped fingers 27 which fingers are formed integral with and are arranged to stand outwardly from the edges.

and whereby this tongue may be pressed inwardly to open the hook after which'this tongue isv released to spring open to close the hook, thus preventing accidental dis engagement of the hook..
Afeature of this construction is that the 7 spring tongue 25 is attached to the inner edge of the link, but as these end links are both attached to the watch their hook ends are raised slightly above the inner surface of the watch and this spring tongueis thus lifted or raised so that it does not rest upon the wrist of thewearer with sufiicient pressure to open thehook.
The guide links are connected to the opposite ends of the bracelet and are provided with hooks by which they may be attached toa watch or the like, and each of these hook links is provided with a slide link. It is found that somewhere in the bracelet 1 either two guide links, or two slide links,
must be connected together instead of an alternate connection, as is usually the case.-
Therefore I have found it to be of considerable advantage in, my improved construction to connect together the adjacent ends of theslide links 16 by a separate and independent small link 30 such as that illus- V trated in Figs. 1 and 2 by which construction the maximum elongationor extending effect of the bracelet is obtained.
Another point in myspecial construction' embodiment of my invention, I desire it to be understood that although specific terms are employed they arev used in a generic and sof descriptive sense and not for the purpose i of limitation, the scope of the invention being set forth in the followingclaims.
Iclaim: a 7 V 1. In abracelet,'a guide link comprising two spaced apart side members between which'another link is adaptedto slide, said members being connected together bybridge elements, 'oneof the bridge elements forming a rigid hook,-and a spring tongue for closing the mouth of said hook.
